Previously I already posted the upgrades of some European flights operated by SN. One of them was Prague wich would get 1 daily A319 and 2 daily RJ, but it would stay 3 daily when I checked it. When a friend of my searched for flights to PRG, he found 4 daily flights operated by SN to PRG. So I checked it and indeed, PRG will be 4 daily as from 28 March.

If I'm correct, it will be a new evening flight with overnight in PRG operated by RJ85, but I'm not sure as I don't know the shedule of the PRG flights this winter. CSA will keep it 3 daily.
Prague must be a popular destination for SN if they are upgrading it from 3 daily RJ to 3 daily RJ and 1 daily A319.

So with an extra daily flight to PRG by RJ85, HNN, BRS and NCL loaded as RJ85 operated, adding 2 A320's and several A319's replacing RJ's (CPH, MXP, TXL, HAM, GVA, PRG, GOT (734)) it seems SN is going to expand pretty much.

And what about the rumours about LCY and IST, will they become true?

A nightstop in PRG is dearly needed to offer morning connectivity ex-Chech Republic, especially now that CSA has stopped all its flights to the UK while SN is working hard to become a hub for flights from secondary UK destinations to continental Europe once again.

Another place which would do well seeing a nightstop service added is NCE as it would offer connectivity to SN's AFI destinations as well as to the flights operated by their North American partners. Sadly, it's not in the system right now, although there will also be a 4th flight added as from next season.

Just to give an example what Belgians bring to NCL. A few years ago, within the framework of a project, I went to Newcastle 3 times within a 6 months period. To the north of the city is a town called Morpeth in which there is a rather big pharmaceutical plant. I guess that in that period our company alone already bought some 50-60 SN return tickets BRU-NCL .
I remember that every flight I was on (bae146/ARJ) was close to 75-80% full. Our UK colleagues who were based at Newcastle told us they liked the connection via Brussels and they used SN for travelling to other European cities. One of the aspects they appreciated was the frequency of flights.(3-4 a day)
When the frequency decreased to 2-1 flights/day, they started to look for alternatives and the SN-flts became less interesting for them. So, indeed, frequency matters..

Interesting reply. By the way, did you also have contact with travellers who went to the LARGE paper factory half an hour from Newcastle ,
Your reply about the interest from UK travellers corresponds with a previous remark that SN gives ( gave?) nice connections through Brussels.

I remember in the old Sabena days that Sabena was known in the UK for quick and good day-return connections to Italy and Germany. Maybe these days could come back...

Strange but true... in those days (before Schengen) changing planes was easier as everything was behind border control. Maybe the A-Pier should be extended quickly for SN and BRU to play their role better as a Hub for Non-Schengen (North-West: UK, Ireland and USA) / Schengen (South-East: France, Italy and Eastern-Schengen-Europe). The North-South traffic is completely Schengen if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers,

Stij

In Brussels Airport November airline news:
Based on the overwhelming success of the start of the route in summer 2010, Middle East Airlines plans to further expand its operation between Brussels and Beirut in summer 2011. Frequency will grow from the current 3 weekly operations to 4 weekly, and up to 5 weekly during the peak summer months.
So 4 weekly in S11 and even 5 weekly during peak months (July and August?)

Other things mentioned: Egyptair daily in S11. SN from 3 to 4 daily PRG in S11.

- Paris : from 10 to 14xw

Two daily flights should indeed be on Fridays and one of the 8 frequencies should be the new A333.
