Next week there will be a final decision if Colombo and Malé will be served again ex-BRU during winter '10-'11.

Thomas Cook and Jetair will take up again this route because the civil war in Colombo is over. They will fly this route with own metal while this route was flying in the past by partner Martinair ex-BRU.

The route will be: Brussels-Colombo-Malé-Brussels.

Other travel agencies are also interested. I expect that this will be again a one weekly route.

Rumour has it that ME's BEY-BRU service will not end at the end of Summer. Time will tell for sure.

I just saw an article about a third daily flight by Delta between LHR and JFK (on Businesstraveller) and in one part of the text you can find this.
Delta says it will introduce new or expanded services to “nearly 30 cities” from New York City by autumn this year, with expanded routes including Brussels, Shannon, Manchester, Amsterdam, Cairo, Istanbul, Milan, Moscow, Nice, Athens, Tel Aviv and Tokyo, as well as new services to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
So has anyone any idea what kind of expansion Delta is thinking about? Bigger airplane (764ER) or more flights?

I don't think so, I think they mean "extra services in comparison with Winter 09/10", not with Summer 10. On their site we can read:
JFK to Brussels: Reinstated year-round daily service, expanding from five-times daily in winter 2009 (Boeing 767-300ER - effective May 1, 2010)
Last week, the airline reinstated year-round service from JFK to Shannon and Manchester, and expanded its existing year-round service to Brussels to daily.

Oh ok, so just extra capacity compared to past winter, so the same as this summer? I hoped for more. :P

Hainan Airlines just decided to continue the new Shanghai service during winter 10-11. This also on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with A330.

There were some questions about the flights after this summer. The decision is now made.

Lufthansa will add 2 daily frequencies on the FRA-BRU route and is thus offering 10 round trips per day. The new flights will operate in the morning and around noon. Flight numbers and timings of the other flights will also change.

Enjoy it, I saw it once at Le Bourget, both on the ground as during a demonstration and it is... pretty impressive... and silent...

Back on topic now!

Cheers,

According to balticbusinessnews.com, Estonian Air will serve BRU with their new CRJ 900's starting this winter season.

"The first of the three new aircraft manufactured by Bombardier will be delivered this autumn, said Estonian Air's CEO Andrus Aljas in an interview to Eesti Päevaleht. The first aircraft will go into service at the start of the winter timetable in October and will serve key business destinations such as Moscow, Kyiv, Brussels and Copenhagen."

For the winter schedule Aer Lingus will increase it's weekly flights from 13 weekly [once daily on Saturdays, twice daily every other day] to 16 weekly. The extra flights will operate on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons at the following times.
DUB - BRU >>> 1:15pm - 3:50pm
BRU - DUB >>> 4:30pm - 5:10pm

Flights will operate with a A320. Recently Aer Lingus have been upgrading very regularly to A321's but I suppose in winter, and with an increased frequency, this is less likely...
