2009 final numbers : 482.121 tonnes, 356.782 pax.
1st cargo airport in Belgium, 8th in Europe.

It's a very optimistic plan in my opinion. They need to attract very big players first. And the last months show it's not easy. They lost 2 or 3 times against FRA. We'll see what 2010 brings ...

Hope you are kidding when saying that LGG should attract very big players...
FRA and others can do so, as they have the tools, the interlining opportunities, the cargo and belly opportunities, etc, but be honest, LGG does not have these.
They should focus on niche carriers, as they are a nich airport.

Man, it's so sad and pathetic, can't you try to be constructive instead of being bitter at any cost, and try to sparkle a new fight ?

I am absolutely not trying to sparkle a new fight or whatsoever, I am trying to be realistic.
Did I mention anything about BRU perhaps ? No sir, not even, as I believe BRU is too small to attract VERY big players too. Be honest, in Belgium we do not have a first rank airport being able to do so...and second ranks can't compete against first ranks...so please be realistic, all...

Apart from perhaps questioning the used methodology, why is it such a big deal to simply recognise that LGG may have generated a larger volume of cargo in 2009 than BRU or any other airport in Belgium?

What do you win or loose by being or by not being the number 1 in terms of cargo volume?

Do airlines care if the airport they serve is ranking on number 1 on a national level?

They indeed do not care to know if they deserve a number one or not.
They care to serve an airport with opportunities such as interlining, in working together with other airlines, in belly space possibilities, etc...
And there indeed a number of carriers is important, this is why BRU is still "Europe's number one non-home based full freighter airport" !!!
None of the european airports has more "foreign" full freighters that BRU does.
This for many is much more important that a ton more or less...

To complete this: the 450.000 ton of cargo for BRU is ONLY air transport, trucking via Brucargo is not included.

Absolutely correct, LGG figures include trucked freight which is not for BRU !

Note that when you are talking about "trucked freight", I believe there is no truck to truck trafic in LGG ... only air to truck or truck to air, so it's kinda logical to count it, isnt it ?

But members of this forum seems to care a lot, and jalousy can be seen in every post ...

We are still waiting the european ranking ... this is more something that matter ...
Hopefully, LGG will keep its 8th position.

In a couple of days I will have the exact figures but I think we can speak about 200.000 to 300.000 ton of freight via trucking.

F.e trucking from an airport to an airport via Brucargo, cargo in transit. Don't forget that a large number of companies at Brucargo are doing logistics: TNT, DHL, Fedex, Express Courrier, Belgian International Post, Mozer, etc.

That's not the case of LGG, that's why it's impossible to compare.
In Liège, all that kind of companies are in a different zoning, because it's truck only.
Even Liège local TNT office/warehouse is not located in LGG.

I expect it to be around 200.000 tons indeed. BRU never adds them into the cargo figures, as they separate all of it. In theory, none of the airports should add trucking figures, except that LGG does that. (and some other smaller european players). This remark has even been dropped to the official instance last year saying that the LGG figures are not correct.
And yes, LGG has trucked freight too of course.
