The AA 777 upgrade for ORD is indeed great news. But what is the status of the JFK flight from May 1st?
This could be the preparation of the JFK flight being pulled following the developments surrounding SN. Or it could be that AA is maintaining/upgrading its 767 fleet and sub temporarily.

AA 170/1 still bookable and still listed as 763ER on Amadeus.BrightCedars wrote:But what is the status of the JFK flight from May 1st?

Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Mind you, STAR alliance membership for SN isn't expected for another 9 to 12 months at best!
In the mean time, SN must prepare itself for its integration in both STAR alliance as well as conclude the merger with LH, so don't expect a change to its transatlantic code-share partner in 2009. As said: there are other more urgent things to do first, notably on the self-operated flights: the European network is still loss-making and must be turned around asap and the African network has to be expanded by at least one (and better even two) additional long haul planes if it is to be somewhat of a worthy competitor to AF/KL in the eyes of LH.
Obviously, once SN will have joined STAR, we will see a full re-allignment of their code-share partners too and you can be sure to see them swap AA for UA, CO and US. When that happens, I'd expect ORD will most probably be downgraded to 767 again by AA and JFK pulled all together.

AA172/171 should become a 757-200 Winglets starting 13/05/2009sdbelgium wrote:AA 172/1 still bookable and still listed as 763ER on Amadeus.BrightCedars wrote:But what is the status of the JFK flight from May 1st?

This really surprises me... But I expect a downgrade again when SN joins *A and the United flight to ORD will gain importance.BrightCedars wrote:The AA 777 upgrade for ORD is indeed great news.
Luckily we'll still have 3 T7's at BRU (CO, UA an AA)
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
At this moment no announcement for this upgrade (not really necessary because its an excisting route), but the AA-webside shows already the B777 as from 01.05.09 so you can be sure that this is correct.Flying-Belgian wrote:Seems like AA upgradres ORD-BRU-ORD to the 777 ! Effective from 1st May 2009.
According to A.net forum, it won't be seasonal.
That sounds like great news.
The route has been flown by a 767 since 1988, with some DC10 intervals in 1991-1992.
Can Atlantis confirm this ?
It would be great to see the B777 of AA at Brussels Airport. Time will tell how long they will fly with this metal to BRU
At this moment, the summer 09 for Brussels Airport looks bright.
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
The webside of EY is also showing at this moment an A332 on day 4. Their timetable at this moment is not final.sdbelgium wrote:Atlantis wrote: Can you please recheck and reconfirm this info? I'm getting a little nervous, because Amadeus is showing A332 for these dates again ...
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Easyjet is going to increase their numbers of flights between Brussels Airport and Milan and Nice.
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
I don´t known if it is already mentioned but Sn Brussels has applied (and received) slots for a daily BRU-AMS-BRU flight (with AR8). Looking at the timings ex AMS this is probably done to feed the Africa flights.

Have they received the slots for real because the slot convention is just behind us and is not final yet.
But it would be good news to feed their African network when LH will transfer some a/c and destinations to BRU.
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
This is what is listed on the slotallocation website:
From To
A/D Apt Flight From To Days Seats A/C Apt Apt Time Apt Apt
D AMS SN7402 31MAR 20OCT 1234567 082 AR8 0545 BRU BRU
A AMS SN7403 31MAR 20OCT 1234567 082 AR8 BRU BRU 0820
Don´t know if they´re actually going to use them though. I just can´t figure out how SN can depart to BRU at 7:45 and returns at 10:20. Very strange. Well we´ll see.

At present 307,409 slots are allocated for the AMS Summer 2009 season whereas the capacity is 275,000. We all know that many slots will be returned by January 31st, but the slots have been allocated. One thing for sure is that VLM´s 17 daily (on weekdays) AMS-LCY slots won´t materialise...Atlantis wrote:Hi LJ,

Maybe the same way as the single daily CDG flight is operated: i.e. foreign-based wet lease?LJ wrote: I just can´t figure out how SN can depart to BRU at 7:45 and returns at 10:20. Very strange. Well we´ll see.
The schedule looks very similar too BTW...
It could explain the weird flight number, as the 7xxx range is currently unused, although there recently was proof of a new daily SN flight to Leipzig as from the summer season, also featuring a flight number starting with a 7xxx...
Oooh, AF/KL is NOT going to like this, but hey, SN is under the wings of LH, so I would not be surprised to see SN go much more head-on with AF/KL than in the past...
Re: BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Brussels Airlines is going to start a scheduled flight to Palermo. It will be a weekly flight on Saturday around noon. At this moment only Jetairfly and Thomas Cook Airlines are offering holiday flights.

Apparently, brussels airlines is abandoning its general rule of a 30-minute turnaround which they introduced on the occasion of the snba/Virgin Express merger (or have I missed something ?)
In favor of quality air travel.
