EasyJet cancelled their morning rotation BRU-GVA on Tuesday and Wednesday in December and January.

Making the construction of a special LCC terminal less and less interesting.

As predicted.
Typical, you react like we say in Dutch: kuddegeest mentaliteit, meelopers. An intellectual men would first checked out all his sources before post in a topic, something you never did because you have no sources except the newspapers.

In meantime, Established02 had probably a problem with the bookingengine, a common problem. As today you can book flights with Sterling to Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm beyond 29 September. And second, Sterling has a special regime during some months of the year, but maybe you also didn't knew that.

Wait and see Atlantis.

(by the way, typical over-reaction from you rather, when somebody has a different idea)

Ahhh, you are so professional....

Certainly more professional and knowledgeable than U!

If Easyjet wants to divert a plane to the UK or wherever to fly to GVA because it's making more money out of these flights well they have right no? Certainly does not mean that GVA is a weak market!

Oh well suppose U know better...

Actually, I'm still getting the same picture for all bookings beyond 29SEP on all three destinations.

Atlantis, can you really make a booking on the Sterling website for October?

Did someone read about U2 increasing frequencies on any other destinations during these 3 months?
And only in the morning of day 2 and day 3, instead of the usual daily operations?

Could it be that easyJet is actually grounding some GVA aircraft for a little while?

U2 took these cancelled BRUGVA flights (NOV/DEC/JAN) out of the system just weeks ago in August.

Perhaps U2 may be doing some extra maintenance work during the quiet winter periods.

Actually, I can see only one person overreacting here, and that's you: a temporary decrease of two weekly flights during the calmest period (with that very same airline ADDING, not even temporarily, a DAILY flight on another route, something completely, and conveniently, ignored by you) and a mere hint at an airline possibly quitting BRU (which then later turns out to be false) and you're already extatically painting your usual doom and gloom picture.

Even if there WAS a reduction of LCC flying in the near future, you'd still be wrong in your statement, as reductions are expected in a very cyclical environment like the airline industry when a downturn hits (like what's happening now), but are short-term. In the long run, LCC flying will significantly increase.

Sterling will suspend its non-stop flights from Brussels to Oslo starting from the 12th of September.
Sterling will continue to serve both Copenhague and Stcokholm Arlanda from Brussels. A timetable can be found here: http://www.sterling.dk/home/flight/time ... el-all.htm

Latvian national carrier Air Baltic has added two extra flights a week from Brussels to its Riga base.
Air Baltic flight 602 leaves Brussels on weekdays at 09h10 and arrives in Latvia at 12h35. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays there's an evening flight which leaves Belgium at 20h15 and arrives in the Latvian capital at 23h35. Air Baltic has decided to use one of its Boeing 737-300's or Boeing 737-500's to link BRU and RIX.

Several years after former Belgian national carrier SABENA ended its Brussels - Dakar - Sal route, flights from Brussels to the Cabo Verbe Islands have resumed. Jetairfly.com will operate its newest route only on Sundays. Flights to SID leave BRU at 06h00 and arrive at 11h50, after making a planned stopover at Boa Vista Airport.

With only three flights a week around noon and very hard competition with TK, it was a try after SN pulled out of this destination. TK knows this and filled now the gap in the morning with three new flights between 8 and 9 'o clock. They will have now flights in the morning, noon, afternoon and evening.

It's a missed opportunity of the Belgian national carrier to have a daily morning and evening flight to IST.

According to Luchtvaartnieuws, Sterling is evaluation its routes out of Brussels Airport. As we already know for several months, Oslo was not bookable any more with Sterling. We will see in the next coming weeks if they are still interested in the other two routes.

The same for AMS. Sterling is flying to the same destinations as from BRU. Also their flights out of AMS are still not bookable.

French charter carrier XL Airways France, formely Star Airlines, will operate flights to the Caribbean (Varadero, Punta Cana and Cancun) and Phuket, Thailand operating for the Neckermann/Thomas Cook group. It will replace Dutch carrier Martinair Holland on these routes for the winter season. The airline will use one of its two Airbus A330-243's to serve those destinations. Each Airbus has 21 seats in Galaxy-class and 343 (!) seats in Altea-class, XLF's economy class. Flights to CUN have a stopover in Nantes, while some -but certainly not all -flights to PUJ stop in Varadero, Cuba before continuing to the Dominican Republic. Phuket is served non-stop from Brussels. Colombo, Sri Lanka and Muscat have lost the non-stop flight to BRU. (MP had a tradition serving Thailand from BRU via either Colomobo or Muscat).

Please note that Marinair Holland is thinking about starting scheduled flights from Brussels!

I'am afraid that the information you gave us is not entirely correct, Atlantis :).
Easyjet will indeed increase its frequency on the MXP-BRU route. There are now 13 flights a week. On weekdays and Sundays, there a two flights a day: one morning and one evening flight. The morning flight leaves BRU at 10h00 and arrives in MXP at 11h35. The other flight departs at 20h55 and arrives in the North-Italian city at 22h30. On Saturdays however, it seems that there's only one flight . It leaves Brussels at 13h55 and arrives at Malpensa airport at 15h30.

I'm glad that EZY is doing so well on that route!

Well Jetairfly I can say the same for you. I have indeed not mentioned that on Saturdays they will have one flight because most airlines at Brussels Airport with two or three flights a day have mostly one flight on Saturday -> read: no business day. So, I assume that most members knows this. But the departing hours you gave for BRU in the morning are wrong. There is only one day they will depart at 10h all the other days they will depart at 08.45h in the morning.

Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium has decided to stop serving Istanbul Attatürk from its Brussels Base on Thursdays, starting from the 4th of September.
Like last year; 2 weekly flights during low season and 3 weekly during high season, nothing new.

From 24th of october Thomas Cook will start a once weekly flight to Aqaba (Friday).
