LX-LGX wrote:Most of the subcharters were extra flights, booked after the allotment (that was booked last year) was sold out. Sales TUI (= the touroperator) has worked indeed very good during the first months, and TUI then is going for it.
LX-LGX wrote:TUI is only loosing money if, f.e., their own 767 has broken down and they have to subcharter an Islandsflug Tristar.
I follow your logic, LX-LGX, but are you sure that all additional subcharters were only needed because TUI sold so much additional allotments? This might partially explain the number of leased aircraft we saw over the past weeks, but my impression was that quite some of those aircraft had to be leased because the delivery of their own 2 B737s had so much delay.

In that case, we are talking about putting chartered aircraft on flights that were supposed to be operated by their 2 new B737s which is, in my opinion, not really a reason to open a bottle of champagne!! (on the contrary, actually).

Thank you LX-LGX, that was a clear explanation of a pretty difficult subject.

JAF 23 wrote:That's crap :D You should go to the Tui village in Zaventem or the Jetair building in Ostend to explain your theory, tehy would love to hear it, because there they aren't opening bottles of champagne, but adding numbers to see how much money there is left. Subcharters cost money, more then you earn with that flight, be sure.

I think that there are 2 ways of looking at this subject. The explanation that we recieved from LX-LGX sounds plausible, and makes one side of the story clear to me. The other side (the other way of looking at it), still isn't that positive i believe. When i'm informed about the amount of money that those subcharters cost, and the amount of money that is lost every day that those 2 aircraft (JAF and JAM) stay in the hangar, i can't say that this subject is so rewarding for JAF.

OO-JAF isn't in a hangar, or is it?
I thought OO-JAF was the brand new 737-800 that still has to be delivered from the Boeing factory...or am I mistaken?

I doubt it, I saw OO-JAT and it's still in the "yellow cab" livery with 'hlx.com' on the fuselage...I think it would be nice to see it in the blue livery, would be the only 737-500 with a Belgian registration as far as I know...

There is no slot available for a new paint... so if nothing changed they are gonna stay in their current clothes

When will they change to the yellow TUIfly-style? Hapag has changed & Thomson will change after the merger with First Choice.
Would make it so much easier to swap planes between TUIairlines (and create a single European brand as a main objective of course).

Thank god for that... I realy don't like the yellow TUI paintscheme, i was quiet dissapointed when i saw it for the first time.
Any ideas when the OO-JAM and the air berlin will be painted in the JAF paintscheme?

Thanks for sharing the pictures, it looks nice.
But do you think that it will be delivered in time...?
(depends when the pictures were taken)

Anyone know, at what time it will arrive, and when it will do it's first flight for JAF?
