Transport Minister Theera Haocharoen has put on hold a Thai Airways International (THAI) aircraft procurement plan pending a thorough study. THAI had sought approval from the ministry for the purchase of eight Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The freeze is reportedly in retaliation for the European firm's inability to fulfil its commitment to deliver six Airbus A380s on schedule.
It was also reported that Boeing was lobbying Adm Theera not to support the new Airbus order.

Re: THAI AIRWAYS AIRBUS FLEET
Very strange, since the A333's were sold cheaply as compensation for the late delivery of the A380's...A350XWB wrote:The freeze is reportedly in retaliation for the European firm's inability to fulfil its commitment to deliver six Airbus A380s on schedule.
I think they canceled the order.

Did they recieve cash compensation for the A380 delays, or did they just say to Airbus 'no thanks, whe don't want the compensation A333's, but thanks anyway...'?boeing797 wrote:I think they canceled the order.

Anyone have any info on that?
"It is thought that the decision was made because the airline did not have sufficient information on how cost effective the planes would be."
They don't have info/Airbus didn't provide info of how cost effective the A333s are? That is rather weird and a random excuse.. i mean we're not talking about 787s or A380s, but a A333 which has been around for ages, and they say they dont' have enuf info?
