Airline in Siberian crash says plane overshot runway
Emergency services have said 102 people died and another 55 were injured in the tragedy.

Sibir Airlines, S7 788 DME-IKT overshot the runway at 7:44 a.m. LT, on Jul 09.

Siberia Airlines was quite on time....

The S7 A310 hit an obstacle near the airport after which a fire broke out

S7 778 flies Domodedovo (DME), Moscow 21:15 Irkutsk (IKT), Irkutsk 07:45+1 day(s) Non-stop 310 5h30min Daily

Sibir Airlines flies 3 times nightly DME-IKT.

Both airports are in the Russian Federation.

NOTE:
Siberia Airlines started a close partnership with Armenian airline Armavia and owns 70% of that company. Siberia Airlines crews operate Armavia A320s on flights from Erevan to Moscow and Novosibirsk.
FYI:
On May 3 an Armenian Airbus crashed into the Black Sea with the loss of all 113 passengers and crew.

124 bodies recovered, 71 people in hospital in Siberia air crash.

The pilot told air traffic controllers that he had landed and then contact with him was lost.*
"The plane landed and the crew told the controller that the landing was over," But rain had affected the runway, which could explain why the plane overshot the runway before plowing to the airport fence and then into a collection of garages.
The Airbus A-310 veered off the runway at Irkutsk airport and hit a concrete wall before bursting into flames.
A technical fault might have been the cause of the crash, the landing gear may have caught fire as the plane landed.

"According to one of the versions, a fire broke out inside the airbus when the plane landed"

In January 1994, a Tu-154 aircraft crashed on takeoff from Irkutsk, killing 124 people.
In 1997, a military transport plane came down in a residential area killing 76.
In July 2001, a Tu-154 crashed in its final landing procedure with the loss of all 145 people on board.

Wonder if they will admit human failure this time?
Looks to me, like the siberian crew ran away from the disaster, leaving the passengers grilling. Now it is the time for the crew to be given a grilling.
Hope I'am taking the wrong conclusions as too hasty, but usually my conclusions tend to be close to the truth.

I heard on satellite, a French reporter explaining that many russian made aircraft are replaced by western aircraft in the Federation and that crews and maintenance do not have the skills to handle or maintain these "new" aircraft.

The story was indeed that russian aircraft and cars could be repaired with a halfpounder hammer (and sickle). And that nowadays the aircraft are more delicate....

Flying is not about superstition nor statistics.

We should not consider an airplane crash as statistics or data, but as a tragedy.

I feel sorry for the families of the victims.
My condoleances to all fathers, mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters of the victims, including the families of the crew members, real heroes to my eyes.

Excuse me, but could you please try and be less silly? This will happen again, and again and again and again, and still aviation will be a very safe mode of travel. And anyway, people will continue to use this mode of travel, for a multitude of reasons.

Why does it happen more often in IKT than in let's say DTW, SZG or MST.

Today a S7 airlines A310 performed an emergency landing after an engine flame out.
Maybe they are out of spare parts down there.
