Skystef wrote:No doubt about this airframe: must be G-VBUS of Virgin Nigeria cruising to EGLL on August 29.
Indeed, I like how Virgin added a Nigeria finish to the plane by painting the 4 jets in green (national Nigerian colour) as well as contour of the tailfin.
Does anyone have any more pictures of contrails (even some they are not sure of the airline)?
i've got an unknown airliner which i have seen through my telescope criusing at 30000 ft on the ur37 flight path from cork in ireland to southampton. i am unsure of the aircraft but my guess would be a 737 or a320. it has a plain yellow tail and the rest of the aircraft is white. i'll try to take a photo through my telescope next time i see it.

I'll post once in a while some shots near EBBR in this topic. Btw it may also be used for any questions (with or without photos) regarding contrail shots.
For now I can't help U contrailwatcherUK, perhaps with a photo or somebody in the U.K. self?
Below is also an easy airframe to recognize, cruising to the east on August 27, and it ain't a DHL plane .
Now that's a good reply. But don't remind me. Am busy with that. But I want some good stuff than...so if someone could tell me HOW much at about I have to save (bottie , Vonsmal :D:D ...anyone.)
In this case HL74.4 was read off, cruising to the West on August 25 2005 at 1813 local time. I would most appreciate it if someone could provide me the missing number (thought is was a 5, but that frame does not exist).

What are the best settings to take contrail shots?
It is the right topic.
I can only speak from my own experience:
concerning time and aperture I use the manual button on my camera, use manual focusing, and use of course 500 mm digi lens. Afterwards a bit photoshopping is needed like cropping, resizing, sharpening and adjust the white or color balance.
Camera settings of most digi photographs on the internet can be viewed by downloading a program to get the exif values. I use one of these: http://home.pacbell.net/michal_k/
Simply download the image in a map on your pc, and then run the installed program, browse the map and settings will become visible.

Edited original post with a larger picture, my first guess was also like Tommy said: HL7494.

Looking to the largerversion of the Korean I would go for the HL7434. If you enlarge the picture a little bit you see that it can't be a 9 as there is a rounding in the lower part of the number.
After looking more closely with Photoshop I'am sure it is a 3 or a 5. But since the 5 doesn't exist, it has to be the 3.
I like contrail spotting, I always use this scope http://www.skywatchertelescope.com/1025.html it's a nice scope for astronomy, but is suites perfectly for contrail spotting. And it can be used as a fixed 510mm lens
