My repaints using FSRepaintmanager...

Post by Conti764 »

Since a few days I'm using FS Repaint Manager (Abacus Publishing) and I have completed two repaints:

One is a Brussels Airlines OO-VET repaint of the default B737-400 in Lufthansa colors (add-on):

The real one:

My repaint:

Remarks:

-> This was my very first repaint, so please be gentle
-> I have left the Star Alliance logo for obvious reasons
-> Painting the dotted B was a real pain in the ass!

The second one is a Jetairfly OO-JAP repaint of the IFDG OO-EAG Belgium Excel B767-383/ER.

The real one:

My repaint:

Remarks:

-> I have tried te repaint the plane as realistic as possible and must say it worked out quite well.
-> There was flaw in the original OO-EAG texture which had two parts of the fuselage overlapping one line. Since that texture was an all-white livery, that didn't matter but with JAF's blue body and white belly I had to make a choice so now there is a small white line on top of the plane right in front of the tale.

In general I must say using FS Repaint Manager is quite easy. But since I'm far from a pro, don't expect the masterpieces some bring to the internet. Where large area's had to be painted, I didn't care about fastners, it was just to much of a hassle. Besides FS Repaint Manager, I also used Paint, iPhotoplus 4 (prehistoric photo editor) and Word.

Are to be repainted:

Brussels Airlines Airbus A330-300 using one of the Simmers Sky's
Brussels Airlines Airbus A319-100 using one of the Simmers Sky's
Jet Airways Boeing 777-300ER using the POSKY KLM 77W
Jet Airways Airbus A330-200 using one of the Simmers Sky's

Not bad, your details seem pretty accurate. But you really need an editor that supports layers. There are some free alternatives to Photoshop, such as the GIMP and Paint.net. You'll be able to use the layered paintkits supplied by the modelers instead of painting over existing paints which might be considered copyright infringement. Especially Posky is very strict about this. (They also require you include their EULA and readme in your package) Some other tips I'd give you are using the color picker, set to selecting a 5x5px average, to choose your colors for painting, and to add some highlights, shadows and dirt to your paint. Also, don't bother paint the FS9 default airliners, they're garbage. ;)

This tutorial can be very useful:

Thanks for your tips, but is it also a copyright infridgement when I use these repaints for my own personal use only?

Sorry for the late reply, but as you may have noticed, I don't actively follow these forums anymore. ;)

Anyway, that shouldn't be a problem. As long as you don't distribute the paints in question, you'll be okay.
