First aircraft ZS-SXD fully painted in Johannesburg and rolled out this morning, hopefully a pic to follow tonight (if I can get my mail box empty enough to receive it that is)

Any LHR spotters to get a picture of 9W at LHR on May 23rd?

I prefer a picture here in Belgium :!: It's almost a month later, but good to wait. Bru deserved to have a new long haul.

On Justplanes.com you can read that Jet airways has the intention to lease 4 new A330's. The first one is scheduled for May 2006 for the new routes to London and New York.
Can we also expect such an airplane instead of an A340-300?

Atlantis,

Apparently, plans are to start up both the LHR and BRU / EWR services with the A340s, and use the A330s next year to increase LHR frequencies to twice daily and open more new routes.

Thanks for sharing this picture.
if that is the final schedule, things will get even more interesting for spotters. All it takes is a one-hour delay on the Eastbound flight to have two of these babies at the gate at the same time. .

Jet Airways to lease A330s.

Jet Airways signed a Letter of Intent to lease 4 new Airbus A330-200s.
Delivery of these aircraft would start around May 2006.
The airline will use these A330s on new long haul routes to destinations including London & New York.

Hi,

Discussion on airliners.net continues on jet Airways. Now there is a thread on what is the next step when the A332 will come in next year. This is one of the ideas ...

What i hear from my sources is that IAH and SFO and even Montreal/Vancouver[YUL/YYR] are on top priority .
Especially Montreal/Vancouver which they hope to serve from CDG .
I dont have any idea of the transit stations for IAH and SFO but by the looks of it it will probably be LHR or another uncovered city like BRU

and another

YYR--quite a decent north indian community present
YUL over YYZ--actually i was pretty surprised when i heard that myself but thats a job for the 9W management to decide---maybe they target pax from CDG-YUL, which i hear is pretty strong in numbers
But as you suggest even i feel they should look at YYZ.
Eventually like AI at FRA they want to build up one Hub in the EU---CDG or LHR orAMS or even BRU---??????

What do you think about these ideas? It all makes sence, we only can hope that they would make a choice for BRU as a small hub.

Apparently SFO might be a gold mine due to hi tech industry links and IAH would do well due to oil industry links

Interesting part of that discussion - could they do India-LHR-IAH with 5th freedom rights LHR-IAH?

5ths are granted by the two countries on both ends of that 5th to the third country. I guess Uk would grant India that. It is also a matter of reciprocity.

The US as manufacturer of future aircraft that will fly point-to-point, would of course like to see its clients get these 5ths, otherwise these aircraft are of less use. Aircraft flying hub-to-hub do not need these 5ths. Carriers who will fly these hub connections, will at one side, cq their base, have all the freedoms they need, and at the other side they will work with a or more partner in an alliance. The american (Boeing) concept is in my view not so alliance friendly, as the operators of such aircraft will fly many more destinations, and that is a thing 'big' countries can do, as traffic rights are limited to the number of gateways into countries. (The US limited Belgium to 5 gateways, some african countries are limited to one)

As you can see behind the 2 concepts, there is also a vision of the world.
