Abu Dhabi's - Etihad Airways announced that it will increase flights to Bahrain from four a week to a daily service. It will also commence flights to Delhi starting December 2004. Also flights to Riyadh and Dammam starting by mid December 2004.

A colleague of mine just left the Aviation Fuel industry and joined Etihad.

I shall keep you posted. I am sure they have plans for connecting the globe.

Etihad also fly to LGW, MUC and GVA. Rumors are saying that Etihad wants to increase flights to MUC (daily or even twice daily).
I also hope Etihad expanding in Europe but they need more aircrafts to expand, so just wait and see when they will get their new aircrafts.

Perhaps Nice (seems popular with Middle Eastern airlines), Larnaca, Frankfurt, Paris, Manchester and maybe even Brussels before Emirates come (assuming they eventually will)

Etihad Airways has launched direct flights to Cairo and New Delhi.

The airline now flys to 14 destinations as of today.

Expected to add destinations in Saudi Arabia and Europe shortly.

Let us behave pessimistic as always and look at the facts.
How many airlines which expanded their service to Europe have put Brussels on the map?
Düsseldorf, Manchester, Münich, Birmingham, Glasgow, yes, those airports are popular. But Brussels, capital of Europe?
Seems that non-Europeans have a different opinion about our capital.
In Brussels, nobody takes the blame for the constant downfall. In Brussels' case it seems that nobody asks the right questions.
What do we want? How are we going to meet our targets? Who is the right man for the job? Let 's make profit, let's make more profit. Let us get rich! Turnover, action, hands on approach.
O'Learry, you are welcome.

I think if a Middle Eastern airline would come to BRU it would be Emirates or Qatar, because they have to offer good connections to South-East Asia (BKK, SIN, HKG...) and Etihad fly only to BKK.
But I don't think they have plans to come to BRU, at least in the next two years (EK is more interested in the US-market, and they even don't serve AMS).

I think it is planning to come to the European market and rumour has it that they are looking at BRU and are currently undergoing a revenue model study.

Well, I hope this is true, but to be honest I will only believe such a link to the gulf region when an official press release will be made by one of the airlines flying over there.

There have been too much rumours over such a flight the last few months....

Thanks anyway for keeping us updated ;)
