Communications with a passenger aircraft were lost, so F16s scrambled and had to fly through the sound barrier to get there as soon as possible. By the time the F16s reached the aircraft, communications were already restored.

Skeyes told HLN there were many F-16s due to a loss of communication and one of them reached the sound barrier.

The bang was heard in Anderlecht, Dilbeek, Koekelberg, Molenbeek, Berchem, Ternat, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Wemmel and Merchtem. Nothing here.
