Air Antwerp spokesman Yves Panneels told Aviation24.be that Air Antwerp should restart scheduled flights on 2 May. No flights have been introduced in the booking systems because of uncertainties surrounding future flights.

He told a few days ago that "no decision has been taken yet" on the restart of flights.

Flightlevel.be published yesterday an article about the airline : "Dark clouds above Air Antwerp" :

- The airline might cease its operations by the end of the month
- No investment, KLM is the only shareholder, as there was no more money or interest of CityJet into the airline
- OO-VLS has been transfered to MMX

Any news saying that Air Antwerp would go belly up or cease operations are premature. See our article:

The Netherlands has just increased the Covid-19 safety risk for the United Kingdom. It's now "very high risk", leading to quarantine at return. Air travel to/from London will thus be minimal the next weeks.

In this article they state that someone made an offer earlier this year to take over the company, but that they couldn't agree a price. Someone know who tried to buy Air Antwerp?

Found the answer already. Sad to read that someone had a plan and Air Antwerp itself was against it. Guess KLM did not want a possible competitor in their backyard.

In short Hillman Travel wanted to take over the debts, get rid of the Fokker and replace it will one or more bigger aircrafts. Air Antwerp management refused to support the deal.

That Hillman Travel is an empty box - a fantasy.

Translated: "Hillman Travel has dozens of travel agencies in Belgium and the Netherlands, and they want to add a small airlines..."

Hillman Travel does not have one single travel agency. They took over 7 office-lease-contracts from the bankrupt Neckermann portfolio - 7 of the 18 shops for which Wamos Benelux wasn't interested and for which the shop owner couldn't find another renter. Those 7 offices show "Hillman Travel" indeed, but not one of those travel agencies is open for business yet because Hillman Travel fails to obtain the insolvency insurance, required by Belgian travel legislation. The reason for that failure is the lack of investment. Belgian law requires at least € 25.000 nett own assetts. Franz Bergman, that mega entrepreneur, has invested just € 2 into Hillman Travel: € 1 direct, and € 1 via Bergman Assets, his holding company that has... € 1 nett own assets. On top, insolvency insurers are allowed to ask an additional bank guarantuee, calculated on the risk they estimate. Which they have certainly done, because one simply cannot run 7 travel agencies with just €25.000.

To give a comparison: CIM Capital Restruct Fund, the Antwerp investor that just took over the Neckermann shops from Wamos Benelux, has just founded a new sa/nv for this purpose. CIM Capital Restruct Fund has transferred € 5.115.000 into the Belfius bank account of that new nv/sa. And Franz Bergman is going to do the same with € 2 for Hillman Travel ànd for an airline?
