Hey marketing department of Brussels Airlines, take note:

As the 'African specialist', SN should have done this. Already 1,4 million views. Priceless. This is how you take care of your brand.

They certainly have efficient administration at OS, all passengers have been reimbursed for canceled flights and therefore, they can party... it's all rolling! SN...nobody's there !

Ok, time for a "stupid question".

From what I have heard is that Austrian is not doing so well. As a "partner airline" to LH and SN, why do they not restructure certain routes?

E.g. : SN is a player in Africa and the idea is, to the public at least, to let SN grow in Africa.

Then why the hell is there a flight done by Austrian from Vienna to Cape Town? Why is this not given to SN? I do know that there are not a lot of Austrians taking that flight; I used to live near Cape Town and took that flight regularly. ( when both flights were still red-eye's )

These were all people who had connecting flights afterwards...

CPT can easily be reached with an A330 as well, so I don't get the entire strategy here...

Brussels Airlines operated mainly VFR (visit friend and relative) routes in Africa. Cap Town is more a leisure destination and doesn't fit in the strategy. Also the Brussels Airlines's strategy is to operate longhaul destination with aircraft doing the rotation within 24h, wich is not possible with CPT.

The problem with Brussels Airlines is the lake of ambition in this company making that all other airlines takes their part of the cake. In Carsten Sprohr head, there are only three airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and Eurowings.

Have flown sabena, delta, swissair ,thomas cook and Mid East VIP as cabin crew
LH group can't compete on costs with low fare carriers (mainly on european sectors); so they keep cutting service but still pretend to be in the top league
Reckoning will come...you can't keep pretending and they have already announced that as from springtime it will be buy on board for everyone in LH group
As you see barely empty premium cabins at this time, I wonder what will replace the bread and butter business pax €€€€ of the past; due to corona all tickets are by need of income totally flexible
The basic business model of our major carriers has changed forever and this will not help financial recovery
Brussels airlines promotes "boutique hotel experience" in C class..fly them to TLV in business and you will see what a "crazy boutique" it is..

Being focused on Cabin Crew wellbeing, I Just hope the airline world doesn't become a hell to be lived instead of a passion for service that can not be fulfilled anymore xxx

OO-SFH departed at 9.29 this morning to Freetown with a charter flight number SN1077 staied 54 minutes in Freetown and is now flying back to Brussels with charter flight number SN1078, it should land around 23.00 in Brussels. Why such a flight? Cargo?

In the GDS, it seems that the London Heathrow flight will be operated with an A330

Brussels Airlines operates first cargo flight to Sierra Leone

January 18, 2021: The first Brussels Airlines’ cargo flight after the hibernation phase is on its way to Freetown, Sierra Leone. The announcement was posted by Manuel Javorik, head of operations control at Austrian and Brussels Airlines on his LinkedIn page.

Responding to the post, Simon Kinsey, VP flight operations at Brussels Airlines, wrote, “Fantastic to see this flight operate and a great credit to all the team. The flight crew will operate as a return flight, so a long day for them. Many thanks to all involved in providing this great service and for generating the additional revenue!”

Why not? NH, VS, SK, 3U, UA,.... all fly passenger planes with cargo only to BRU and make money on it (I hope).
And even if they do not make a lot of money on it, they keep at least some crew up-to-date in regards of flying hour requirements.
