Breeze Airways plans to begin operating charters on 15 October 2020, and scheduled flights by May 2021 utilising E190s before A220-300s join in August 2021 for coast-to-coast flights. The initial network will code 15 cities on the East Coast and in the Midwest, South and Texas. The deal with Azul for 28 E195s was axed in favour of 15 E190s from Nordic Aviation Capital. Breeze also confirms it acquired the operating certificate of Compass Airlines.

Treq aims to launch regional operations in Canada by early end of 2020 by a Quebec-based regional transportation cooperative. The startup is seeking to raise US$66 million and will initially fly two Q300s before acquiring up to five Q400s by 2020 end.

Green Airlines plans to begin operations from its base in Karlsruhe Airport to Berlin and Hamburg from 31 October 2020 with an ATR72-500 on ACMI lease from Air Alsie. The carrier is planning a second base at Paderborn Airport.

Fly Armenia Airlines got its AOC, to operate with Boeing 737s, with destinations in Russia, Europe, and the Middle East. Some former Lufthansa managers lead the airline. Long term development include long haul operations to the US and China.

Jetsmart is to launch a subsidairy in Peru, to be ready for 2021.

Italian Airways aims to launch operations in Italy, flying 100-seat Embraer jets out of Milan Bergamo. The founder is Giuseppe Gentile.

Airhub Airlines was granted its AOC by Maltese regulators. It will operate one A320 from GetJet.

HiSky (Moldova) continues to delay planned operation. Paris flights will still launch on 01 August 2020, with Dublin, Lisbon, London Stansted, and Paris Beauvais now launching later in the month. Dusseldorf and Bologna services were removed.

Sky Mali obtained its air operating license and can start commercial operations with one B737-500 out of Bamako. Regional flights to follow and the fleet to increase by another B737-500, one ERJ145, and two 60-seat turboprops. The carrier is also eyeing Paris flights within two years.

Animawings (Romania) began operations with one leased A320, serial 3162, from shareholder Aegean Airlines, after obtaining its AOC recently. First destinations are Spain and Greece, with flights to Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia at a later date.

Bees Airline (Ukraine) to be launched as a new charter airline, with plans to purchase two ex-UIA B737-800s previously on lease to the national carrier. The owner of the company is Sergei Smirny.

Malta MedAir performed its first scheduled flight with its own aircraft, an A320 which flew between Malta and Warsaw.

Greater Bay Airlines has applied to Hong Kong’s CAA to become the city’s fifth passenger airline. The planned LCC will launch with B737s around 2022.

AirGotland of Sweden is now ready to begin operations after selecting Sprint Air of Poland as its wet-lease provider. Sprint Air will operate one Saab 340A, says CEO Tiina Mykkanen.

Global Crossing Airlines (US) is on track to launch revenue operations in late 2020. It has secured strategic alliances with scheduled and charter airlines, tour operators, as well as a drawdown facility for up to US$75 million with a private alternative investment group. Spirit Airlines will provide maintenance.

La Nova (does it ring a bell? They intended since a couple of years to fly to Antwerp!) now plans to start operations in spring 2021 out of Geneva with ATR aircraft.

Itapemirim, which operates buses and trains in Brazil, has secured ten A320s from lessors ahead of its launch of domestic operations in March 2021. The planned airline expects to reach 50 aircraft in 2022.

One China Global Airways plans to launch freighter operations in summer 2021 initially with two B747Fs. The fleet will rise to five aircraft within five years

World 2 Fly, the new Spanish airline set up by Iberostar hotel group, plans to launch in mid-2021, with Cancun, Cuba and Punta Cana as its first routes. The planned company will lease an A350 and is waiting to sign another contract.

Algeria is mulling a new national airline in addition to Air Algerie to meet demand. The initiative is part of the complete overhaul of the transport sector.

Guinea to discuss a project to create a new airline with Arab investors, who want to help fund the potential company.

Swoop is announcing the start of operations at Toronto Pearson Airport beginning on 25 October 2020, which will include a mix of domestic and international routes.
