Flycana of the Dominican Republic expects to complete the initial financing of the airline by end of 2020 and launch operations in 2Q 2021,

Fly Lankan Asia (Sri Lanka) has applied for an AOC and plans to operate domestic and international scheduled flights with BAe 146-300s and B737-200Fs.

They said : "The winter schedule will be published in the end of the next week (this week actually). We are waiting for the slots confirmation for all HiSky destinations."

Nella plans to launch operations in Brazil with initially two ATR42-300s and reach 10 aircraft in 24 months and 40 aircraft in five years. Flights to launch in 1H 2021. The carrier may opt to swap out the two -300s for more modern ATRs.

Gullivair (Bulgaria) applies for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit to transport persons, property, and mail between the US and the EU, specifically Sophia and New York JFK.

Algeria’s government plans to set up a company for domestic air transport to ease pressure on state carrier Air Algerie which will focus on international flights.

Norway to welcome a new airline by Erik Braathen, who looks to launch operations by summer 2021 pending financing. The airline will focus on the domestic market and to European destinations, initially with five aircraft, with B737-800 or A320. The team includes Brede Huser and Thomas Ramdahl.

Erik Braathen is asking the Norwegian government for US$1.5 billion in state start-up aid in the form of hybrid capital and government loan guarantees to start up his new airline.

Air Atlanta Icelandic is launching a new airline in 2021, called Air Atlanta Europe (Malta), to increase its competitiveness in the ACMI market.

Malta seems to be the new heaven for airlines: HiFly and Ryanair also opened subsidiaries there.

Fly Armenia is ready to commence operations as early as December 2020, with B737 aircraft out of Yerevan to multiple destinations.

ZIPAIR Tokyo commenced passenger operations on 16 October 2020, operating Tokyo Narita – Seoul Incheon route with B787-8 (and only two passengers on the first flight!).

Air Georgia plans to start operations in 2021 with two A320s, flying to Europe and Central Asia. The carrier is still awaiting a flight permit.

EGO Airways intends to start operations in December 2020 with one E190 and is currently awaiting only the issuance of its Italian AOC. The carrier plans to acquire E195s as well.

Flair Airlines CEO Stephen Jones wants the Canadian airline to have 50 aircraft in the next few years.

Green Airlines (Germany) to utilise Chalair Aviation (France) as its aircraft provider, securing ATR and BE1900 capacity, ahead of its launch of operations in January 2021.

Emerald Airlines was established by Conor McCarthy as a passenger airline in hopes it can secure the contract to operate the Aer Lingus Regional service.
