Stored Icelandair Flying Pencils take to the air again

Post by Vic Diesel »

Accordning to Swiss aviation portal CH-Aviation (reported via Austrian Aviation.Net), Icelandair tries to overcome shortages of aircraft in by re-activating two previously stored B757-200s of their fleet.

The problems of aicraft shortage arise from the worldwide grounding of the B737 MAX last year. Due to the grounding, they cannot use five already operated examples of the type and also prevented from taking over four further examples of MAX 8 and MAX 9. To ease the tension in fleet planning, Icelandair announced they will also wet-lease three B737-800s, two of them will be operated by Slovakian carrier Air Explore.
