For at least one female passenger, it was all too scary:arthurv wrote: ↑09 Feb 2020, 20:16what? wait...Passenger wrote: ↑09 Feb 2020, 19:30 Air Europa Madrid-Amsterdam: 3 go-arounds for their B787-8 EC-MIG, now back enroute to MAD:

so it takes off in MAD, flies to AMS, tried but fails to land 3 x, and then flies back to MAD with all AMS bound passengers on board?
And they have enough fuel on board? Or is it just this time, knowing landing at AMS could be risky?
Tankering fuel (ie carrying fuel for 2 or more sectors) is quite common in aviation. As soon as the difference in fuel price is big enough to cover the cost of the extra fuel burned airlines will tank at the cheapest airport. Not very ecological and even borderline hypocritical for airlines which pretend to be carbon neutral though.
Yes, but not always for the same reasons. In commercial air transport, price may be the usual reason; smaller planes sometimes fly to aerodromes where their preferred type of fuel is not available at all; quite a stronger argument...Tankering fuel (ie carrying fuel for 2 or more sectors) is quite common in aviation.
