Etihad Airways, having accumulated a loss of 5 billion USD, is not expected to get out of the "losing zone" at least until 2022. In an attempt to improve the financial situation of the airline, they sell parts of their fleet:
Up for sale are the 16 A330 (both -200 and -300) of the airline, already replaced by newly-bought B787, they are expected to be converted into freighters by their new owners, KKR and Altavair AirFinance. Also to be sold are 16 B777-300ER, however they will be leased back to Etihad for some time, until the ordered 20 A350 and 6 B777-9 arrive.
