Mauritius isn't in their booking system neither. Must be uploaded yet.

Hi,

High chances that Air Mauritius will be alive from september....
But as there are no direct flights to MRU from Belgium I only see more people from France flying on the cheap via BRU.
Love see trying this but more practical from CRL then no ?
BRU more for the Dutch and their Antillen ...

Nice flights but really can't guess how many belgians are in those Air Belgium flights with these destinations..

But a nice alternative for Eurowings/Austrian/Edelweiss which are served by LH from BRU with 1 stop.
Soon also in the TUI brochures after Cuba,DR ?

New types flown 2022.. A339

There were also Air Mauritius flights to AMS but if I remember well, they dropped it.

So it is a good move to attract Duch and French people together with Belgians. Belgians has also property, hotels, there. Ex sabeniens

KLM and Air Mauritius did indeed fly from AMS (KL in the Winter, Air Mauritius in the Summer) but cancelled the flighhts as of W19/20. It wasn't a big success and lasted 2 years.

As Air Belgium seems focusing on popular destination for french people, I wonder if Air Belgium could lease a mini subfleef of 4-5 embraer 190 to fly to main french city in France to feed the flight. Or an agreement with Ryanair (Toulouse, Marseille, Nantes, Bordeaux), or TUI (Nice)

BRU was chosen because of the track lenght, source Terzakis/l'echo
So most likely temporary, CRL track should be ready H2 2021
There is a high chance that french people will be the majority, CRL isnt badly located

Now Air Belgium has also announced to offer code share flights from Guadeloupe and Martinique to Sint-Maarten. These flights will be operated by Air Caraïbes that flies from the two Air Belgium destinations to Sint-Maarten Grand Case l'Espérance Airport. No details are offered yet and bookings are also not yet open.

Maybe the flight to MRU could be made triangular as BRU-MRU-RUN-BRU.
Flights from Paris to Réunion are usually not cheap and MRU-RUN is only a 30-min hop....

Air Belgium's annual account (BY2019) has been published, and it confirms what TLspotting wrote a few weeks ago: gross profit for 2019 is (+) € 5.314.900, which reduces the cumulated loss to (-) € 16.014.400.

The shareholder structure (31/12/2019):

3,61% Sabena Aerospace Engineering
7,39% 3T Management (‘Terzakis’)
9,01% SPFI
16,03% SRIW
18,02% Aviation Investment Holding
45,95% SOGEPA

This confirms that Air Belgium is now really a Belgian airline, and perhaps the only one (except to consider ASL Group as an "airline"). The Chinese have seen their share drop to 18% only.

Air Belgium has always been a Belgian airline, just as Brussels has been and still is.

Why do so many of you care where the money comes from? SN and AB are Belgian companies, registered in Belgium, paying Belgian taxes, employing mainly Belgian staff and both have their base at a Belgian airport.

Ikea is also a belgian company based in belgium with belgian employees in belgian stores if you start like that.
I guess André is right...

Ikea would say it's a dutch shop, and that answer should tell you that your own "financial funding" conclusions don't really make sense either.

No, it's not. The vast majority of IKEA's are managed by INGKA, registered in The Netherlands. The rest are franchises. Any such franchise in Belgium would indeed turn that specific store into a Belgian company.

I could go on about Ikea but that's off topic.

SN Airholding, just like the company behind AB, is a company registered in Belgium, albeit with a foreign shareholder. The mere fact that Lufthansa holds all shares doesn't make SN a German company.

As there are Canadian shareholders in BAC, would that make BRU a Canadian airport?
Why so much focus on the nationality... The current pandemic shows we live in a world which cares less about borders and nations than ever before.

It’s been some time now since they announced MRU. Also they mentioned they would like to start flights to the USA and Dutch Antilles. Anyone who knows more about this? Also this could be good for BRU to attract more Dutch passengers.

It’s part of a 6 months charter contract that has been going on for well over a month. Transport of Norwegian oil rig workers if I’m not mistaken.
