EZY LPL 1-3-5-7 (again after stopping the route a few years ago)
EZY didn't get any slot at Brussels for Summer 2020, told me a source in the UK (easyJet changed to another airport, not that far from LPL, which is a longhaul hub).

Please explain. Can't get slots at BRU but will change to another airport instead of LPL.

Read here that THERE IS NOT ANY PROBLEMS WITH SLOTS at BRU.
I am confused :?

My friend told me easyJet couldn't get slots at BRU for this new route and the launch has been postponed.

easyJet wanted to use the requested slots of LPL route for another airport, approx 40kms away from LPL.

This airport is a longhaul hub.

My words were confusing. Is it more clear like that ? :D

Not really so there are slots problems in Brussels and they moved the flight to another airport from another airport?!?!
But because they have no slots they don't fly to Brussels is that correct?

My understanding is they just pretended to be interested in flying from Brussels to Liverpool when asking for specific slots to BRU, while in reality they intended to serve Manchester with those slots once obtained...

Why do they have to act so secretly about what UK route they really wanted to serve in the first place?
I still remember an almost identical story about their now axed flights to Garwick from a couple of years ago, which were initially requested as CDG flights or something like that. Could be wrong about the exact route and its placeholder, but it was definitely the same trick they played there...

Seems like a typical thing to so for easyjet, no idea why really as others don't seem to bother.

Slots at BRU could be refused for Summer 2020, since 25R will be closed during July & August, resulting in a significant loss of capacity for the airport.
As a preventative measure, some slots might be refused. I couldn’t tell you whether that’s actually the case here or not.

Even then, BRU had 100.000 more flight movements 20 years ago. Hard to imagine they have to refuse slots now unless it's for very specific timings.

To be correct, they did get slots, but they canceled them.

Thanks for all the info.

Would have been nice to see a low cost option to MAN or LPL.

Suffice to say traffic is being handled and predicted quite differently today when compared to the way things were done 20 years ago. Bot in planning and the tactical phase.

If my memory's right, easyjet offered LPL out of BRU 10 years a go but stopped after a while ..

Which means a capacity increase by +-30 seats on average, very nice!

But less than the 789 which was also regulary scheduled on the route, and definitely a decrease in quality if you ask me :(

Air quality is certainly better in the 787, but seats are way more comfortable in the A330, at least in the class where most people travel.

I agree. Long-haul seats in Y are more comfortable in the A330s (but you also have to look at the seat pitch).
Anyway, I do not understand why airlines (which determine the configuration) choose for 3x3x3 in most new long haul aircraft coming onto the market. I would have chosen 2x4x3 or 3x4x2. Couples, two friends or two colleagues travelling together could sit together without having to share "anything" with a third "intruder".
Most airlines make you pay today to select a sea. They could sell these seats (bloc of 2) at a slightly higher price.
The 3x3x3 configuration is really horrible, unless you are lucky to have the middle seat free, but never count on it.

Indeed.
The Montreal route must be very popular when you consider that the increase in AC offering comes on top of the capacity that SN puts on the same route as from the same 28MAR.

Word ! Give me an aged A330 over a brand new 787 any day.
