Slots at BRU could be refused for Summer 2020, since 25R will be closed during July & August, resulting in a significant loss of capacity for the airport.
As a preventative measure, some slots might be refused. I couldn’t tell you whether that’s actually the case here or not.

Even then, BRU had 100.000 more flight movements 20 years ago. Hard to imagine they have to refuse slots now unless it's for very specific timings.

EZY didn't get any slot at Brussels for Summer 2020.
To be correct, they did get slots, but they canceled them.

Thanks for all the info.

Would have been nice to see a low cost option to MAN or LPL.

Suffice to say traffic is being handled and predicted quite differently today when compared to the way things were done 20 years ago. Bot in planning and the tactical phase.

If my memory's right, easyjet offered LPL out of BRU 10 years a go but stopped after a while ..

Which means a capacity increase by +-30 seats on average, very nice!

But less than the 789 which was also regulary scheduled on the route, and definitely a decrease in quality if you ask me :(
Air quality is certainly better in the 787, but seats are way more comfortable in the A330, at least in the class where most people travel.

Indeed.
The Montreal route must be very popular when you consider that the increase in AC offering comes on top of the capacity that SN puts on the same route as from the same 28MAR.

Word ! Give me an aged A330 over a brand new 787 any day.

No doubt because of balance. The seating you propose would certainly be felt on the flight deck...

I remember a lot of MD11's were in a 3-4-2 configuration...

It had something to do with an uneven distribution when evacuating a plane. Cant remember what exactly, saw a Sabena report at work from 20 years ago a few months ago that addressed this issue...

dont ask me where the report is now tough ...

No balance problems at all! The block of 4 seats is not in the centre but shifted towards the 2 side.
ANA certainly had 777s with a 243 layout, in economy, a couple of years ago.

So what would be the reason for not accepting an unbalanced seating?

* Undemocratic penalty to those seated on a 3-seat row vs the blessed ones on a 2-seat bench in case of evac?
* risk of spilling coffee on the pedestal due to an overly tilted flight deck?

What about the narrow body A/C such as ERJ at 1+2, DC-9/MD80 2+3, Avros/BAe 2+3 (though some of the latter have a "6-(a)breast seating") ;)

As I understood, SN would be seasonal and additional to AC
SN will fly seasonal 5 times a week to YUL. AC will fly from both cities to BRU
Thanks for the info! So basically SN will put extra capacity in summer time to YUL and AC replaces them on YYZ. That’s a lot of capacity, combined with Air Transat
When will begin the AC flight to YYZ this summer ? Thx a lot...
