Ils avaient raison!

* Let's get some facts right. That day out of 468 flights only 8 actually were diverted to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport from Istanbul Airport. (Not Corlu Airport) (source :DHMI news link. DHMI is responsible with the airports and air traffic in Turkey)

* In the French article, Corlu Airport has been referred as Military airport. Tekirdag Corlu Airport (TEQ) is also open to domestic and international flights 24/7. It is not a military airport as such by itself.

*No weather radar or facility in Istanbul Airport? Not true:

* Skytrax news about THY....Yes I have my doubts about it too but THY pulling out of Skytrax has got nothing to do with Istanbul Airport!!!

* Istanbul Airport running good or perfect...NO NO! They have lots of teething problems and addressing them as they go. The airport is far too big. Especially for old and disabled people. There is no metro yet. Taxis, some buses/coaches and private vehicles are not really the solution yet. They really need to finish the Gayrettepe Metro and start building the Halkali Metro lines urgently with no delays.

* Is the airport located in right place? It is far away from Istanbul CBD and I am worried about harsh winter days and winds coming from Black Sea and effecting the operations at this new airport.. We will see.....
