I think he means Turkish or Ethiopian airlines, despite being in the same alliance ;) and that KLM is a competitor ;)
In deed.

Hi Kapitein,

GS and HU are no surprise if we just have a look a couple of days ago of the other topic: BRU Star and OneWorld under one roof.
Especially there we talked about a hub for Hainan at BRU. GS, Tianjin Airlines, is part of the HNA group (Mother holding) of Hainan. So it is really no surprise that they spread their wings more.
If it really could be like this, it would be great news, especially daily.
And again a nice part in the evening wave

PS: it would be a disaster for Air Belgium if I remember well that they also want to fly to Wuhan.

Indeed no surprise, SZX in direct competition with the CX HKG-flights. Want surprises me the most is the "strange" routing from GS to KEF via BRU.

Even if tourism is decreasing in Iceland, there are more Chinese who visit Iceland, than Belgians. Even Indians, Japanese and Koreans, are just behind Belgians https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Iceland

89 495 Chinese visited Iceland, in 2018 vs 21 028 Belgians. And it's not about the size of country, in terms of population. There are less people living in Danemark than in Belgium. But there are more Danish who visit Iceland, than Belgians.

https://www.ferdamalastofa.is/en/recear ... n-visitors (click on 2018 versus 2017)

2018: Chinese ambassador wants direct flights between Iceland and China https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/natu ... tween_ice/

However, i don't know if such flights will be profitable

It depend on how they sell those flights. If there will be a lot of tourists on then the yield will be low. But between China and Belgium will be also a good business traffic and we can take away some traffic from AMS.
Profitable or not, it depends also on the cargo which will be between China and Belgium. If the cargo is of high value then it will be ok.

PS: I can tell you that some European flights to/from BRU with not a high number of pax are still excisting or flying bcs of the high value of the cargo on board. Even with not many pax per flight, the route is profitable

So, let's cross fingers, but with HNA as mother holding, Hainan already with many years of experience, I hope in a positive outcome and that they will start up those flights

06.30 Landing at BRU
07.30 departing in BRU ( this short time on the ground at BRU explains that the full handling will be done in KEF) Here will be just the de-boarding of business people, some tourists and quick fueling.

17.30 again landing at BRU
19.30 departing in BRU (after full handling in BRU)

GS is code for TIANJIN AIRLINES.
But they have no Hub or base in Wuhan.

Will be probably Xi'an international airport as from where they also fly to LHR. But let's see. If member Kapitein saw this slot request as from Wuh.

Right. I was thinking of the WUH-BRU sector of that flight.

easyJet announced to fly from Brussels to Tegel as from 30 October 2019.

The airline previously flew from Brussels to Schönefeld, but the British carrier uses now its ex-AB base.
