Press release Air Namibia 06 Sept 2019: the Board of Directors' chairperson (Dee Sauls-Beckenbrock) and the deputy chairperson (Nangula Kauluma) have both resigned.

Hence the "talks with Lufthansa" are probably put on hold...

Lufthansa to scrap 15 older A320s as more A320neos are delivered. Aerocircular (Ostend Airport, Belgium) will handle the tear-downs.

But still not a "Network airline". It shows the ambiguity of the LH management relative to SN.

They still don't have a clue/plan what to do with Brussels Airlines. They keep excluding them from the Network airlines, while they're no longer part of Eurowings. SN is the 'orphan' of the group: not belonging anywhere. Sad.

And there are now cuts in premium economy and economy.

https://onemileatatime.com/lufthansa-re ... l-service/

At this point I am happy it chose IB for my trip to MEX in February. Much cheaper 800 euros instead of 1200 in premium economy. To be honest - cost cutting only achieves so much. I don't think LH and particularly the CEO have any idea on what to do apart from cost cutting - so good luck to them.

For SN I think they want them to do their own thing, which may be why they are not in the bigger picture yet. They have too many issues still to deal with, with the original network carriers OS - low cost competition, EW - still problematic and I still don't believe their results are "improving" - any lowcost carrier expands in any of their bases EW will be back in the red...LH - strike again so lots of hot plates.

Last year I took one return flight with LH to MEX and this year another one, both in Business class with my M&M miles.
The catering (BUSINESS class) was below average as were most of the flight attendants.
After the second return flight, at FRA, I heard two passengers from Y class comment : "Last year, with KLM it was a lot better" !

And they are going to downgrade a product which is already very poor ?

What else is there to add except that one really wonders how LH got a 5* rating from Skytrax ?

On the way to further savings: Lufthansa Miles&More announces massive (negative) programme changes effective January 1, 2021. This will of course also affect Brussels Airlines (and Austrian, LOT, Luxair, Swiss, etc.).

https://loyaltylobby.com/2019/11/09/con ... ry-1-2021/

In other news, Lufthansa is stepping back from a commitment to buy 14 Boeing 777X jets valued at US$6.2 billion as it slows fleet growth in an effort to cut capital spending and rein in capacity. Its firm order for 34 B777X has become an order for 20 B777X with 14 options.

United Airlines (my own FF) is doing the same... status linked to USD spent and no more on flown miles.

Unless they introduce # of sectors to qualify Senator like they do for frequent traveler, many of their premium pax will loose their status.. and most probably their loyalty to M&M and star alliance all together..

AF/KL have also recently "restructured" their FFP, but it not as bad as M&M.
Btw, when I go to the M&M web page, I have the feeling they mainly want you to spend your miles on everything except "bonus" tickets. And they want you to spend a huge number of miles for items/products which are not worth the number of miles you would have to spend. In addition, I find it increasingly difficult to find the section on their site where you can request "bonus" ticket. Not user-friendly as far as I'm concerned.
