According to airlineroute BCA application for twice weekly new routiing Beijing-Xian-Lisbon service has been allowed by Chinese authority, no launch date given, the carrier had previously operated nonstop PEK-LIS service which ended in October 2018.

Hi Globerotter,
the current capacity in LIS/ LPPT is pretty much at the upmost limit.
today ANA is signing the financing agreement for the new LISBON / MONTIJO Airport with a commitment to have the airport done by 2022. Lets hope they dont take as long as BERLIN AIRPORT ;)

I think new routes for lisbon airport are currently on hold due to the latest invasion of EASYJET, RYANAIR, EUROWINGS, LH, TUI NL, BE, Norwegian and so on. TAP withholds they priority at this airport so dont expect anything to change on the next 2 years.

Hope Beijing-Xian-Lisbon opens up as this always boosts tourism.
