This was the last decade where we still could speak about belgian pilots, flying belgian planes for a belgian airline, the future will be that our guys become european staff operating european airlines... is this worse ? i don t think so...

Sometimes we can dream...
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airc ... w#1f554ed0
SN flying from Manila and other destinations as far away....to Brussels
Unfortunately, it's only an illusory dream...

Maybe already mentioned but:

I saw that the Moscow-Domodedovo flights will be canceled in favor of Sheremetyevo.

European airlines? I still see strong national brands in each European country: British Airways, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch, Swiss, Iberia, TAP Portugal, etc etc.... It still matters.

Btw: did anyone notice Brussels Airlines is rolling out a new website? You can have a preview here: https://booking.brusselsairlines.com/en

Significant detail: the name 'brussels airlines' is no longer on the website! It's just the b-logo in this childish cloud design. Another preparation for the disappearance of the brand

Initially, the name Brussels Airlines is visible, but indeed it quickly changes into the b logo.

According to a Brussels Airlines spokesperson, this is probably an error due to the alert message about the strike of 13 February above the logo.

LH is extremely happy with very good cargo results in Africa due to the integration of Brussels Airlines Cargo in LH Cargo.
So, LH has the benefits but is still refusing in helping SN when they have difficulties with the A330 or even no new airplanes for them. Swiss Air story......

It is interesting to see how LH's senior management old school believes that they need a low-cost carrier (Eurowings). Look at Air France-KLM decided to reduce different (low-cost) brand names and harmonize everything, it is just cheaper to have one brand. AF-KLM came to the senses that Joon/HOP! confusing branding is actually costing more money in the long run. Even Delta Airlines tried it with the failed low-cost SONG Airline.
Eurowings project is a example of a living in a denial.

I agree!
Low Cost long haul is at least very difficult, so why try???
EW will never beat Wizzair's cost structure.
I think SN's Hybrid model is the future. BTW when you look at it: it's just a copy of a mainline US carrier...

Cheers,

When You look at the sub-Saharan network of AF-KLM with more than 30 destinations for summer 2019 and high flight frequencies, there is a huge gap to be filled by LH group and SN! I am not sure SN is already the specialist of Africa even if, in the LH group, SN is this specialist... Think also to Ethiopian, Turkish, Emirates, Qatar... Time for Wake up!

But it's impossible to do the same than AF,Brussels hub is not big enough.
The transfer possibilities are not the same has CDG or FRA...

I second that!

SN's network in Africa is no leader by far. If is it indeed the intention of the LH group to occupy Africa using SN, the clock has been ticking for quite a while! They need to add more destinations and they need to add the minimum Intercontinental feed that makes sense at BRU as well.

They are a niche player by now and are attacked from all sides: AT, ET, KQ, TK, the new Senegal Airlines and even EK & QR. AF/KL has a stronger presence as well and of course must vaster networks in AMS & CDG. Even BA/IB isn't ridicule.

If LH's ambition is to capture a large swathe of the Africa market (and do so at BRU), investments are long overdue! If not, then fold SN into EW and eventually run a couple niche long hauls out of BRU or maximise Star Alliance code sharing.

Take the FIH situation. SN has had to reduce frequency but LH didn't jump in to offer SN metal with greater capacity, as possible under the bilateral.

Indeed. And this article (in French) confirms that AF/KL is doing the utmost to keep its position as a leader (20% of Europe to Africa traffic). Interestingly, the main competitor of AF/KL is said to be ET. SN is not even mentioned. "Il y a du pain sur la planche" for SN.

Indeed, but with a Boeing 737 MAX 8, the capacity is much lower than on SN's A330.

And I am sure that the Belgian diplomatic representation in Kinshasa is pushing the new President to grant additional slots to Brussels Airlines, as requested by Christina Foerster.

Does anybody know whether SN still have capacity in their current fleet of 10 A330's to operate any additional flights tot Kinshasa if those rights return? Or would that require/imply extra aircraft?
I tried to find out whether the extra flights to Dakar and Banjul this winter extended into the summer season but their online timetable did not provide any results. Any news on that? Or is all capacity from canceling Mumbai gone to Accra and Lomé?
