Re: Eurowings in 2019
What could be the impact for SN?
Christina Förster seems to be getting more weight (no pun intended!) within the EW group; it could be a good omen. How is she perceived by the SN people?
For Oliver Wagner, it's hard to see this move as a promotion. Lateral promotion?

Re: Eurowings in 2019
From what I hear (SN insiders, please confirm), Christina Förster is generally appreciated within SN staff. SN gaining more weight on the long-haul market is a sign of confidence, not only in SN, but also in her leadership. Even if it means that she will have less say on the short-haul market.

These are former Lauda/Laudamotion aircraft, according to the unofficial LH Group fleet site.
Some members here have expressed the wish to see SN acquire (on lease of course

Re: Eurowings in 2019
For SN it would have been a different type of A321: the LR version, to serve some destinations in North America and Africa.

Re: Eurowings in 2019
Recently Eurowings expanded its long-haul base at Munich. They seem to have second thoughts about this expansion: from Summer 2019, the number of intercontinental destinations from MUC is reduced from 10 to 6: Cancun, Havana, Mauritius, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Varadero.

Re: Eurowings in 2019
Too much, too fast, like Norwegian (imho). And consequently, loosing (a lot of ) money ?
Re: Eurowings in 2019
I only had time now to read the article in the link above. Interesting. Without going into details : former EW manager Müller is quoted saying : "Es sei schlicht "sehr problematisch, Interkont-Dienste nur auf Basis von Point-to-Point-Verbindungen anzubieten". Or : it is simply very problematic to offer long-haul flights on the basis of point-to-point flights !
If I remember well, CS and CF said SN would offer point-to-point flights only. And CF added later, there will be long-haul expansion for SN at BRU if there is a market.
Conclusion : since it is very difficult to offer long-haul services without feeder flights (says Müller), there will be no long-haul expansion for SN at BRU. Well, we knew that, didn't we ? It's now 95 % confirmed by what Müller said about EW at Munich.
CF is very good at making promises she knows will not be kept, and at sugaring the bitter pill of SN integration into EW with a new iconic livery for SN.
We'll see how long it will take for EW to make a profit.

Re: Eurowings in 2019
Maybe you should read it again. And not only what you think that is written or what you would like that is written. But what is really written. Just one example: you forgot what followed after your above quote = "Ein großes Feeder-System habe Eurowings für München nicht aufgebaut".Ansett wrote: ↑08 Feb 2019, 18:07I only had time now to read the article in the link above. That's not "Long haul point-to-point is very problematic". It says that Eurowings has established feeders to Düsseldorf, but not to Munich or Frankfurt. So Eurowings uses feeders to/from Düsseldorf, whilst Lufthansa uses Frankfurt (and Münich) as a hub.
Obviously that's a wrong conclusion because you didn't understood the article. So let me recap it in brief:Ansett wrote: ↑08 Feb 2019, 18:07If I remember well, CS and CF said SN would offer point-to-point flights only. 1. Eurowings = Düsseldorf
2. Lufthansa = Frankfurt and Münich
3. Düsseldorf = capital of North-Rhein Westfalia = 18 mio inhabitants. A solid base for point-point, specially when some feeder flights can be added.
Re: Eurowings in 2019
Of course, I understood the article. But you are an LH agent who knows it all much better (as Always). No further comment. Have a nice day (if you can).
Re: Eurowings in 2019
Eurowings plans to offer scheduled charters to Santa Clara (Cuba), with A330-200 from both Dusseldorf and Munich, beginning in late March 2019. Given that the Munich schedule was reduced to 6 destinations (see post above), will Havana or Varadero be abandoned?
