Ryanair's Polish unit Buzz will operate a fleet of 25 aircraft in fiscal 2020, including seven for charters.

Ryanair delays delivery of its first five B737 MAX 200 jets to winter 2019-20 season, due to the global grounding. The carrier is also in advanced negotiations to sell 10 of its oldest B737s for over $170 million before end of March 2020.

Ryanair secures compensation deal from Boeing worth hundreds of millions of euros
According to Irish newspaper The Independent, Ryanair has struck an agreement with Boeing worth hundreds of millions of euros to the Irish low-cost company in compensation for the worldwide grounding of the 737 Max jet. The deal involves money already owed by Ryanair to Boeing: Ryanair has ordered 135 Boeing 737 MAX 200 jets, with an option for 75 more. The compensation will thus come ass a deduction from the money owed by Ryanair to Boeing for this purchase. The Ryanair fleet currently consists of 455 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Ryanair was due to adding the first Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft to its fleet last month, but deliveries have now been pushed back to October or November. Nevertheless, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary still expects to have some flying over the winter, assuming the MAX recertification by safety authorities in the US (FAA) and Europe (EASA) goes according to plan. O’Leary also said Ryanair expects to have 50 of the jets in service in time for summer 2020.

Most probably another one of those Irish good-news-press-releases when there is bad news. Ryanair's share had a terrible fall last week, at a certain moment even at a 5 year low. So something had to be done to calm down shareholders.

Regarding this "agreement": it would be utterly stupid from Boeing to make such a deal, given the fact that so many other 737 MAX clients also have the same demands. Even more because there is no solution insight: both the FAA and EASA understand that Boeing has cheated on them with the 737 MAX. So the damage could become much worse then some today expect.

How many others, Southwest aside, have a fleet of 500 Boeing’s with several hundreds on order?
You can be sure Ryan has been negotiating hard with Boeing during the past weeks.

Off topic: I’ll give you another share tip, buy Ryan now and you will double your money in less than 5 years. Remember, a few months ago, I predicted they would go lower. They may even go lower if Brexit turns nasty, but if you have five years don’t hesitate. The same goes for easyJet by the way, in case you don’t want to invest in Ryanair.

Ryanair confirmed that its cabin crew based in Belgium have voted by a majority of 74% in favour of a 3-year pay and rostering agreement. The lowest-paid cabin crew will get an increase of 25% and the others an average of 8%.

Just wondering... What sense does it make for Ryanair to go for its own brand in Malta? The routes and aircraft will remain the same. Is it just for governemental support?

Ryanair has lost a court case at the trade court Charleroi: the Tribunal d'Entreprises / Ondernemingsrechtbank has accepted 3 files from Happy Flights and AirHelp. Ryanair had hoped that the court would reject the claims because passengers "have to do" their request online.

Next week Friday, the same court will deal with a few dozen of similar requests.

Happy Flights contacted Aviation24.be stating that the court is still busy and that the possible ruling isn't official yet. We have hidden the article on our main page and will publish again once we have more news.

The information is confirmed, however with many more than 3 cases. The English translation of the Dutch statement of Happy Flights has been added to our article:

Ryanair may have to trim plans to grow capacity in summer 2020 if the B737 MAX is not flying by November 2019 due to the rate at which it needs to take new deliveries over the winter.

Ryanair could close bases and is offering unpaid leave to pilots as delays in delivery of new 737MAX aircraft and tough trading conditions bite.

Lufthansa chief executive Carsten Spohr (the man of the Eurowings debacle) says Ryanair is “irresponsible” for charging less than €10 for tickets on certain German routes while adding the airline won’t be pushed out of its home market. That remains to be seen!

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary says the carrier has no plans to market the B737 MAX differently to the other aircraft in its fleet.

Ryanair now hopes to receive its first MAX200 aircraft sometime between January and February 2020, shortly after the expected return of the MAX 8 to service in late 2019. The carrier now expects to take up to 30 B737 MAX deliveries up to end of May 2020, causing the airline will cut summer 2020 growth rate from 7% to 3%. Possible closures of bases or short term cuts may be necessary from November 2019.

Béziers Airport confirmed today, that the Charleroi Béziers service will be a year round service.

LF 88%, 13 000 pax carried since the first flight on 2Apr19

If there was still a little chance to see Tuifly Be to start Montpellier-Charleroi (they planned to replace Ryanair), i think it's now over. Ryanair now operates a year round service, from Charleroi to Nîmes (55km from Montpellier) and Béziers (75km from Montpellier)

In French, sorry, Google Translate is not working

Just to be sure, I asked TUI fly Belgium about Montpellier. Their reply: "We have no intention to take over the Charleroi-Montpellier route at this moment."
