ANA is also handling everything themselves and flying relatively normally.

Anyone knows if the management and union still in talks or completely stopped? Seems not much news on any progress.

They are still talking, it’s looking promising. Ceo Clive came out of holiday to do the negotiations.

Thanks for the update. Seems not much news about the progress can be found from the media anymore.

Anyone can load bags in a plane but a towback truck?
Can someone explain this to me.
Which equipment are they using?
It’s tec4jets who’s doing the pushbacks.
It was on vrt news today that even their managing director is helping to load the aircraft.

Got to give them credits.
Apparently none of their flights was cancelled.

2nd round of negotiations just finished it’s looking promising they are going to do a 3rd round later tonight.

Believe me the airport staff doesn’t like ruining people’s holidays or going on strike. But after loads of smaller actions and attepts to put pressure on the management there are not many options left.. TUI staff indeed did a great job !

1. Thanks for confirming that was your tool to get what you want: to ruin people's holidays.

2. If you don't like to ruin holidays, then... don't do it.

You just love taking things out of context and putting your own spin on someone’s words, don’t you?

What? Out of their context? No, not at all. My reply was right to the point. The strikers knew that by harrassing innocent passengers, management would have to fullfill their demands. Pure egoism. Legally allowed, but scandalous practices.

Seriously? So what was the solution according to you? If unions tried every other possible solution the last year and nothing worked, there is only 1 option: a strike. Funny you mention egoism, because putting workers in bad conditions just to save money for the company and shareholders, and therefore saving your own ass is just what the management did.

For the zillionth time: the reason why work pressure was high, was not "to save money for the shareholders". Untill now, the shareholders have lost between 15 mio € and 40 mio € with their investment in Belgian aviation (negative own assetts plus long term bank loans they heritaged from the previous owner). And now the cost of this strike has to be added to that loss: indemnity invoices from airlines, no income for six days while most people were officially not on strike.

Or do the trade unions, the strikers and their supporters think that Ryanair, TUI, and others will not demand reinbursement of the costs they had to make?

Reasonable thoughts Passenger, but an employee who has to skip his lunch or who has to work with old and defective material. Has to load an aircraft without the minimum agreed loaders, where his grieves were already known at least from January 2018 thinks differently.

I am not endorsing the strike, but I can understand their reaction.

Aviapartner used to be Belgavia, where the owner was known for providing a quality service. Now it's profit, profit, profit before anything else! A race to the bottom!

Besides if - next to Swissport - you have a duopoly on the Brussels Airport market, and you are still able to make it a loss-making company there is something really wrong!

It's not like broadband or data that becomes cheaper through the years, it's still a service that you provide and service comes with a price.

Doesn't Schiphol provide material to its handling agents ? A nice gesture for Brussels Airport to do the same, the airport has enough capital to do so.

Again Passenger this is NOT the responsibility of the employees it looks here that this strike was the only weapon left over to get better and normal work conditions.

It's in Dutch but maybe this can help:

So why was the work pressure so high if not to save money? It is just obviously that people had to work much harder in order to save money.

Right, they own their own tractors to get the planes in and out the hangar.
