China’s CAA said that there is still a huge amount of testing to be done for the C919 to be certified, raising doubt over the 2021-end target by Comac.

YTO Express Airlines is the launch customer of the ARJ21-700 passenger to cargo aircraft with the delivery of a prototype aircraft.

COMAC chief designer, Wu Guanghui, said the CR929, developed in partnership with UAC of Russia, had its preliminary design started. In recent reports, Russian leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the CR929 project.

Nigeria would consider buying C919 as it grows the country’s fledgling carrier Nigeria Air to 30 planes by around 2025, says Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika.

Comac obtains a production certificate from the CAA to proceed with the mass production of the C919.

Comac has delivered the world’s first C919, MSN 107, to launch customer, China Eastern Airlines. It is expected to be put into commercial use in spring 2023.

Comac has officially delivered its first of 30 ARJ21-700, serial 186, to an overseas customer, TransNusa of Indonesia.

Comac delivered its 100th ARJ21 aircraft to customers, showing that China’s homegrown regional jetliner has entered its mass production period.

COMAC has received the airworthiness approval from CAAC for the freighter version of the ARJ21-700.

COMAC expects to reach an annual production capacity of 150 domestically-produced C919 planes in five years. The company had received more than 1,200 orders for the jet.

China Eastern plans to begin C919 passenger operations on 28 February 2023, on a one-time basis from Shanghai Hongqiao to Beijing Capital.
