Air Belgium in 2018

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Your comparison taking the inaugural flight is unfair. You should take random dates in May: I've done it and KF/ABB is by far the cheapest with 448.37 € return.

I think it depends how you look at the flight. We all know it's their inaugural flight, so OK. From a normal passenger's point of view however, it's not really unfair if I really need to take the flight on these specific dates.

Ivan

Indeed, and a 2 day stay in HKG is not representative for the average traveller either.
As soon as you go for a stay of 7 days or more it’s easy to find 449 return, a bargain!
Re: Air Belgium in 2018
It is unfair, because you target the most expensive AB combination.
Re: Air Belgium in 2018
I'm not saying that Air Belgium will be the most expensive for all flights between Belgium and Hong Kong. I was just making a comparison for a given flight on a given date, which is, in my humble opinion, never unfair from a traveller's point of view.
In fact, Air Belgium's fares appear to be the cheapest when traveling in May for few more days...
Best regards,
Ivan

Very strange flight schedule indeed for a stand-alone airline: CRL-HKG 1-34--7 and HKG-CRL 12-45--. When something unforeseen happens on a Thursday (outbound) or a Friday (inbound), there is no Alliance flight for a reschedule. Passengers thus are stuck for three days.JustPlanes wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 09:55 Sorry but if you have 2 airplanes and 4 flights a week no way should there be 2 days without a flight... specially on Friday Saturday out of Belgium or no weekend flight out of China...

So Air Belgium has a Finn among its key staff, it has former Finnair aircraft and has adopted Blue1's IATA-code. What's next? A partnership with Finnair?TLspotting wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 09:51 Flights are the following :
KF851 ABB851(?) CRL-HKG 14:00 07:30+1 1-34--7
KF852 ABB852(?) HKG-CRL 11:30 18:15 12-45--

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Don't call it a random check then.
Yes, some pax may need to fly on these days; they should choose another airline for cheaper flights then, as you so brilliantly demonstrate.
When you want to make a point, you can always find a way.

Per EU rules, isn't Air Belgium entitled to rebook its passengers on another carrier's next flight (e.g CX to BRU ?) in case of operational failure ?Passenger wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 12:50Very strange flight schedule indeed for a stand-alone airline: CRL-HKG 1-34--7 and HKG-CRL 12-45--. Don't they have any rebooking agreement with an airlines operating out of HK to Europe in the same time frame ?

Sure, in case of an internal/operational problem, Air Belgium has to find and will find a solution. On a side note: CX as alternative when the AB-aircraft is AOG is not possible - then it's just wait till the aircraft is fixed.Darjeeling wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 13:55 Per EU rules, isn't Air Belgium entitled to rebook its passengers on another carrier's next flight (e.g CX to BRU ?) in case of operational failure ?

What member JustPlanes probably suggested - from his 15 or 20 years of experience as Sabena station manager in Boston - is that on every flight, there are passengers who show up too late for a variety of reasons. Forgotten passport, wrong airport, shuttle-transfer that went wrong, a road accident causing a huge traffic pile up, a business meeting that ended too late, ... And when such things happens on a Thursday, Air Belgium can only offer them a next flight on three days later.
As a stand alone airline, they can't rely on other carriers. Sure, they may have interline agreements with other airlines (example for own booking errors), but they won't offer this when the client caused the missed flight.
Another correct remark from JustPlanes: there are no outgoing flights on Friday (late evening) or Saturday - the ideal flight day for holiday makers.
