Re: Lufthansa in 2018

On the latest pictures, I notice a little yellow dot next to the left front entrance door of both planes.
Could this be a late and subtle reaction on most comments about the lack of yellow in the new livery?
I didn't see this yellow dot in the previous pictures.
Am I wrong?
Best regards,

Duke

Well observed! But I think that the yellow dot was there since the very beginning, well before the negative comments around the disappearance of the yellow colour in the livery. It was not on the first design shown to the public though.

It's a yellow square with a Willkommen/Welcome message. I assume in line with their logic of using the yellow only for accents, but it's a bit 'bright' in the overall paint and yet too small to be clear what it is. Clearly shows the logic of Lufthansa: a simple basic paint that hurts nobody and accents where it matters for the passengers such as in the cabin and this only really visible when boarding.

it doesnt hurt anyone indeed, neither does it inspire or evoke emotion. Gray, dull and corporate.

Although quite new to posting I have been reading through this forum for quite some time....

Recently I came across this, in my opinion very decent site, and its very up to date. It offers nice information not only about the Brussels Fleet but also about some other LH-group Airlines like Lufthansa....

https://sites.google.com/site/lhgroupfleet/home

Cheers

About lh's new livery .. It seems they decided to modify it again, but just the colour which will be plain blue (io the dark black-ish colour à la NZ)
The resemblance with the LOT livery is less obvious now with the new colour, it seems overall better than instance 1.
However I think it would look even better with painted engines (same blue)... like BA does for instance.
Just my taste anyways... Still the current yellow circle the new livery is replacing was kind of iconic ..

Lufthansa is considering a follow-up order for more A350s now that the airline has seen the initial results of flying the aircraft. The company has 25 A350-900s on firm order, seven of which were delivered by end January 2018.

Lufthansa is looking at the A321LR, but CEO Carsten Spohr said it didn’t have the range for flights from Germany to the US. But did he think at Brussels Airlines?

Lufthansa said it is not interested anymore in A380s even though they are available cheaply.

Yes he did... he found some cheap 737-300/400s in Africa and South America. The A320s SN operates now are too new! And US for Brussels Airlines... are you crazy, that network needs to be reduced... How about JFK twice a week... and IAD 5 flights for the entire summer... but he is ordering double decker buses to transfer all the passengers from BRU Airport to DUS Airport so they can fly on Eurowings

Lufthansa and the rest of the world... if the airplane was worth it I bet you Al Bakker would have added more of them but they're not.... Tim on the other hand wasn't born yesterday and knows that EK was the only hope for Airbus not to have to announce the end of the A380 so he got the latest ones super duper cheap... and EK has space issues at DXB for the next 10 years so being able tp push 600 people on a flight certainly works better than 300! Off course you need pilots for that and thats going to be a bigger problem for EK I believe with everyone else hiring them and many getting tired of being based in DXB...

I offer my design services to Lufthansa...
I have 5 minutes design experience (thats 5 minutes more than those who came up with the new livery)
Here my suggestion and I only charge $50 for a design...
Paint the section thats currently white in Blue...
Paint the section thats currently black (the tail) in white...
I have a money back guarantee... if you don't like it within 30 days you get your money back...

How many times have you spoken with him?

@Ansett : It's no more a secret, the Gustin case has lifted many ambiguities that could still subsist .. quite disgraceful of LH.
Under the helm of CS it seems indeed decided that SN may/will not operate from bru as a hub à la LX or OS.
--
Obviously the merger deal approved by the Belgian side was originally supposed to save the Belgian wings, not to cut them. LX/OS was the intended model. It' a pity the intention was not a contractually binding condition of the deal. So yes it is a cheat if not of the letter at least of the spirit of the deal. And it's a shame.

Lufthansa limits its long haul to Frankfurt and Munich from Winter 2018. The newly established connection Tegel-New York disappears. Long haul in Düsseldorf is operated by Eurowings/SN only, with 400 LH staff moving to FRA or MUC.

That was known since the beginning: LH took over the route after the Air Berlin bankruptcy only because Eurowings didn't have the necessary aircraft. At the end of 2018, Eurowings can take over again.

The Areobuzz article suggests that there will be no direct flight TXL-JFK any longer, but that Berlin passengers will have to travel through one of the hubs FRA-MUC-DUS ("Während die Kranich-Airline in Düsseldorf ihr Langstreckenangebot durch Flüge mit Eurowings und Brussels Airlines substituiert, kommt es für Berlin richtig dicke: Dort zieht die Airline die erst im November eröffnete Verbindung von Tegel nach New York wieder ab und streicht sie ersatzlos. Berliner Passagiere, die in die Vereinigten Staaten fliegen wollen, können also nur noch wieder Direktflüge buchen und müssen auf einem Drehkreuz-Flughafen umsteigen.")

Lufthansa to close its Dusseldorf base in winter 2018/19 due to the closure of its Newark route, affecting 400 flight attendants. But Eurowings is there to take over!

I read yesterday on HLN.be that the planes in new livery of LH will have to be repainted as the blue is too dark in bad weather conditions and thus a violation of certain rules.
