Maybe British tourists visiting Brugges?
Are there trade links between Manchester and Kortrijk?
Carpet industry etc? Both cities are known for their carpet and fabric industries..

Will the new service work?
Madame Soleil is still busy working out who will win the local elections in Antwerp... :D

It might be.
If Flyvlm will charge flights at 250 Euro/single then I doubt it will be.
Also if they don't advertise then they can forget it.

Great to have another citytrip from OST, BCN is the only one at the moment.
The new OST winterschedule shows that BCN is getting less popular in the winter.
TUIfly will decrease the flights from 3 to 2 a week. :?

But forget the business trade, as one can see with the timings this will be pure a tourist route.
Have a feeling that VLM has the same idea.

Some figures:
The Manchester airport person said there is a catchment area of 22 million persons.
This is exaggerated.
In Manchester alone there are 500.000 who live there. The Greater Manchester area has 2.6 million, with a plane that only holds 50 there is a lot of potential.

In Ostend, one third of the hotel accommodation is occupied by UK citizens.
Brughes has 500.000 UK citizens visting the medieval city a year.

CEO of EBOS, said that they are also looking at Belgian football fans supporting for Man City or Utd.
He forgot that Liverpool isn't that far and has also some fans.
They can now watch a match every fortnight..instead of coachtrip of several hours..

Just look at this link:
http://flemishreds.be/busreizen/liverpo ... on-130518/
Enough people to fill a plane.. 8-)

Brussels Airlines has 3 flights per day to Manchester: A319 or A320.

So yes, one F50 should work.

I know I should post this in the "Abnormalities/Anomalies" topic, but I want to give this OST topic some more hits...

Thomas Cook Airlines (UK) flight MT-1461 / TCX1461 from Kefalonia to London Gatwick (EFL-LGW) has just diverted to OST Ostend:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flig ... 1#1d296dd7

The aircraft, G-NIKO A321-200, already had to divert to CFU Corfu on the previous flight from LGW to EFL:

... followed by this positioning flight CFU-EFL:

Good results for Ostend-Bruges airport in July:

Ostend-Bruges Airport welcomed no less than 59,827 passengers in the month of July, an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2017. If we exclude the impact of the attacks on Brussels Airport on 22 March, we can speak of an all-time record. The number of movements also increased by 15.5% to 2893 compared to last year. Freight transport experienced a spectacular increase from 79.2% to 1835 tonnes compared to July 2017.

Some more info(Dutch):
https://www.hln.be/regio/oostende/lucht ... ~ab2d315c/

Mr Buelens(CEO of EBOS) says that the good results also have something to do with the industrial actions at Ryanair.

Will the relationship between Mr Buelens and Ryanair ever normalise?

Eddy Myngheer is the new manager at EBOS responsible for cargo operations.
Mr Myngheer was general manager at Brucargo for WFS.

He used to be stationmanager for Aviapartner at both BRU and OST.

Some more info regarding the problems with AP Oostende.
The company has been given 3 months to seek new investors or to reorganise their workforce.

According to Mr Yves Nuyts(manager AP) Ostend is not making any money due to the loss of freightcompanies over the years.
Even the current contract with Egyptair is not profitable.

Egis says that there are looking for other companies to handle the freight.
Looks like that "good news show" of Mr Buelens is finished.
Its time for Egis to get their act togheter.

Can't OST do like CRL and have airport employees taking care of the handling?

More than at CRL, though. And it is the handling of cargo that was at stake, or so I read.
Egis says that there are looking for other companies to handle the freight.

Yes, the problem is the handling of cargo.
But since April a new company started at the airport, Fenair.
I has gone deadquiet on this one.

The passengertraffic is doing very well with the increased flights but the cargo is very slowly rebuilding.
The money is in cargo and not passengers.
This is the reason why Swissport left the airport, no cargo.

Mr Nuyts said that all options are open like working with private partners.

Ostend-Brugge airport was present at ACF Toronto.

Interview with CEO Marcel Buelens and sales & Operations manager Eddy Myngheer through the below link.
It seems some interesting announcements will be made the coming weeks/months related to new (cargo)airlines/partners showing up at OST + some major investments in the cargo-field,including a whole new building to serve as a 'cargo-hub'.To be operational by early/mid 2019.

Mr Buelens is also promoting OST as an 'English airport outside the UK' due to the fact that cargo handled through OST is reaching the South of England faster than through most London-airports.(I'm wondering how the Brexit could influence the traffic at OST,positively or negatively..)
Let's be optimistic that cargo-tonnage will recover at OST anyhow.

Also new PAX airlines and destinations would be welcome btw ;)
