The Belgian Raad van State / Conseil D'Etat has cancelled a decision from minister Schauvlieghe to extend the night flight allowance.

Newspaper report, put online by the anti-airport boys from Wiloo:

Its a plus article on the KW site, much easier to read;
https://kw.knack.be/west-vlaanderen/nie ... 47731.html

CEO Mr Buelens is mad because the airport is from now on restricted to QC12 noise levels from 11PM till 06AM.
He says that he will make the list of boardmembers of Wiloo public on his site so that people who are out of a job thanks to them can complain at their doorstep.
Mrs Joke Schauvliege made a mistake and Mr Buelens says he is not backed by any politician.
In the meantime the current mayor of Ostend says that there is no big problem and that the case can be solved very soon.
The spokesman of Mrs Schauvliege says that it will take at least 2 months.

In the meantime NO reaction from the future mayor and member of the Flemish government Mr Tommelein.

Article in Cargoforwarder.eu on the latest night flying restrictions imposed on OST airport.

https://www.cargoforwarder.eu/2018/11/1 ... night-ban/

Let's hope the Flemish government finds enough arguments to return to the previous situation, which was already quite restrictive, but which offered at least a doable compromise for OST, the city's habitants and its very sporadic nightflight operators.
Those NIMBY's from W have only one goal and that is to abolish the airport and its employment alltogether.

Just now when it is clear that Belgium/Flanders need these regional airports to cope with expected airtraffic increase and to alleviate the burden on BRU and its surrounding areas.

Just a small translation in English.

Wil--(ones who want to close the airport) isn't amused with the words of the CEO of EBOS.
They now have asked police protection as the CEO has said he will make the names public of the people behind this movement.

They are now afraid and have written to EGIS Paris to confront their CEO with his statement that they are a bunch of old w@nkers.
They are looking with their toplawyer to file a complaint against CEO Marcel Buelens for "slander and defamation".

Comment;
Mr Buelens can do the same for ex garbage articles concerning his person when he worked for CRL who were publised on the Wil-- website.
But many of these articles have now been removed from their site.

With 303 members are a rate of 10 Euro a year they would have 3030 Euro to spend on lawsuites and lawyers. This isn't sufficient and on the Facebook page "Ostend airport fans", some mentioned big "anonymous" sponsors( probably anyone who will benefit if OST closes).

Now they are saying that some members pay more than the membership fee...So they probably have more than 3030 Euro on their bankaccount...
They don't need to file transparant accounts so they don't.

Police protection against something that every single person in the world can check for free in both the Belgian State Gazette and in the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises??

Example for a State Gazette publication about a foundation in Ostend, choosen at random by my computer:

Example for a publication in the KBO/BCE, also choosen at random by my computer:

Werkgroep rond de Impact van de Luchthaven Oostende op de Omgeving.

Study group (working group) on the impact of Ostend Airport on its environment.

That's slightly different than their current modus operandi.

Not surprising (but sad) to see that many of the current and former board members of WILOO, knowingly and willingly chose to live in the centerline of the runway (even almost in front of the approach lights) or close to the airport, in housing estates that were build in the past couple of decades, well after the main terminal construction (late sixties) or the runway extension (mid seventies).

Already more than 1180 people signed the petition in favour of Ostend-Bruges airport.
That's thusfar 4 times as many as the NIMBY VZW has official 'members'...

A second baggage carousel has been installed at OST.
EGIS is planning some more investments in 2019.

Some more news on these investments is expected in a few days.

I remember the former leader of WILOO. He used to be a teacher at the school I attended in the 1980's and I remember him telling one of his colleagues how cheap the site was where he was going to build his new house. Of course it was cheap : it was right next to OST airport, the same airport he has tried to close down for years. One day he was spotted leaving the airport after coming in on a nightflight, the same nightflights he had claimed for years had made his living conditions intolerable, together with all his neighbours'. The term 'weasle' comes to mind...

About WILOO

I don't mind that an organisation is complaining about aircraft noise, we live in a democracy. But I can't understand that members of an organisation are accepting that the official WILOO twitter account is used for non-aviation related items.

The less we talk about these green extreem communists the better.
Let them go back to Southern Spain for their vacation (via EBOS) on a nightflight as they are used to.

With a possible move of the SAR to EBOS from EBFN they are also against this.
If there is a problem in Bredene, the SAR heli can't fly over their heads and should take a longer route.
So this means that the person in need should wait a bit longer.

What if a boardmember suffers a stroke, should the ambulance also take a longer route??

A small regional airport for OST,no flights between 00hr01 and 23hr59. Then complain that the airport doesn't have any traffic and should be burning so much taxpayers money.
Its like having bouncers in front a disco who won't let anyone in and then say, told you the disco doesn't work...

Flights on the new route will begin on March 7, 2019 and will be operated three times a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. ;-)
