One can imagine Lufthansa is not too keen to see internal competition from them on the network side, hence them being oriented towards complementary markets only, quite clearly.
Why? I don’t think LH cares wether you fly via MUC or FRA as long as you fly them!

You're right Stij, they shouldn't. However, there is often competition within groups in all kinds of business. In the LH group Board, some members oversee parts of the group's activities, like EW, and there probably is some internal power struggle, if only for the group CEO position when it will be open.

In short: Brussels Airlines keeps its own sales team in Berlin. No longer with a country manager, but with a Business Development Manager working in the Lufthansa offices in Berlin.

Does this mean that integration is pushed, without necessarily achieving pure absorption? Thx...

The article says clearly that the integration will proceed further in 2019, but the present decision shows also that Brussels Airlines keeps some sort of freedom of action.

My feeling is Lufthansa understands B.air's African routes are a completely different market than anything eurowings (or in fact Lufthansa proper) covers, hence it needs to be covered with a different product and that can only be done via a different subbrand .
1 company, active under different brands depending the market: nothing shocking, happens all the time, in all sectors of our economy.
Exactly as predicted.

Just wondering if any of you guys know why I cant book Brussels-Johannesburg anymore on Brusselsairlines.com .
Okay, these are code share flights from Frankfurt (SN7206 with LH 572) but buying the tickets from brusselsairlines was generally ( a lot ) cheaper than buying it from LH.com directly. I did this many times since the economy tickets were usually economy-K tickets ( cheapest bunch )

Did they end the code share for this route ?
