On 6th of January 2017, a guy by the name of Esteban Santiago killed 5 people and wounded 6 others in the arrival hall at Fort Lauderdale.
He had flown from his home town Anchorage and used his gun that he had checked as his sole luggage.

The Alaska resident has been diagnosed with schizophrenia but was found competent to stand trial. Prosecutors also charged he aggravated his mental illness by abusing hallucinogenic drugs after returning from Iraq, where he served with a National Guard unit.

According to the Sun Sentinel newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, Santiago was asked by U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom at his May hearing why he had gone on a shooting spree.
“Umm, I don’t know. I wasn’t really thinking about it at the moment,’’ he responded. “A lot of things were going on in my mind. Messages.”

Before the shooting, Santiago was briefly treated at an Anchorage mental institution after showing up at the local FBI office claiming to be hearing voices, then was released with no restrictions on owning a gun, authorities have said.

Sadly, the Advance Passenger Information didn't help identifying the threat before boarding nor did anybody in the baggage claim area make use of the second amendment authorizing them to carry a gun and defend themselves.

Esteban Santiago was sentenced last Friday to five consecutive life sentences plus 120 years.

Another technical failure at ATC AMS Amsterdam Airport:

From an incident report from Kenya's Ministry of Transport, same aircraft as above:

"...At 1405 hours on 8 September 2011, a Cessna 208B Caravan, of registration 5Y-BOP, operated by Safarilink Aviation Limited, collided with a Topi antelope on landing at runway 27 of Musiara Airstrip in Masai Mara. The aircraft was conducting a regular scheduled passenger flight from Nairobi to Masai Mara via Loldia and back to Nairobi. The aircraft was on its second last stop before returning to Nairobi. There were 11 persons on board – 10 passengers and 1 crew member. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. The aircraft damage was concentrated on the propellers and the engine... The majority of passengers on the flight were visitors of Governor’s Camp in Masai Mara. The Camp had organized their transport from the airstrip to the Camp by sending relevant vehicles..."

Fatal Attraction?

Better known as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Well, better known by some.
Not me ;)

If they rushed to open their new terminal, maybe they could help the Germans to solve problem with their Fire system at BER?

Today would have been the 72th birthday for Freddie Mercury (Queen).

His former colleagues at BA's Heathrow Ground/Luggage Handling have made this video for him:
