Very interesting debate indeed (if you can save 30 minutes of your time to listen), between the CEO of BSCA, the Walloon Minister in ch&rge of airports and the main shareholder of BSCA.FredATC wrote: ↑01 Dec 2017, 18:45 Some interesting info from local TV about BSCA (french only) :

Extension of the runway by 650m to bring it to 3200m: some new neighbours will be impacted and the Walloon Region will either buy their houses or pay for sonic insulation. Why can't Brussels Airport find similar solutions?
When the runway is completed, CRL expects four long-haul flights a day between 10:00 and 20:00, thus no night flights (curfew will remain from 23:00 to 06:30).
CRL is courting Air Belgium, from the very beginning (even if the current length of the runway doesn't allow to take off at full load). CEO Cloquet says that Air Belgium has already contracted with Chinese tour operators.
CRL claims 190 destinations (Ryanair: 86, WizzAir: 9, TUIfly: 30, Air Corsica: 2, Belavia: 9 and Pegasus: 55).

To insulate sonically the houses or buy them around Brussels Airport it could be possible in less densely populated areas.
If you want to implement that with Brussels it will be to costly.
So the solution could be to insulate or buy all the houses on runway 01/19 and use it for night flights?!?!

Hasta la victoria siempre.

Night flights to/from Brussels Airport violate the Brussels Region noise restrictions when they are within a range of 100 kms from the airport. And Bellot refuses to make an aviation law, settling that.

Air Corsica to offer new A320 service from Calvi to Brussels Charleroi from 03 July to 28 August 2018.

Shame!
Flying schools based at CRL would like to thank Belgocontrol for that!
Staff problems have been existing for many years and they are only recruiting now when it's too late.
Let's finally have ATC done by a professional company in Belgium!
@ Charleroi airport: go and have a chat with NATS: they are cheaper and way better

At the risk of provoking a storm of protest: why couldn't they make the airport uncontrolled, with only an information service? At least Ryanair have operated to aerodromes that are never controlled, I suppose they still do.

Zweibrücken in Germany must have been one.
Re: 2017 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
No way you can do that in CRL. Commercial traffic is too intense.jan_olieslagers wrote: ↑30 Dec 2017, 11:31 At the risk of provoking a storm of protest: why couldn't they make the airport uncontrolled, with only an information service? Re: 2017 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
Proximity to BRU will prohibit that I would think.
Re: 2017 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
Not only the proximity to BRU. CRL really isn’t a quiet regional aerodrome. They do shift quite a lot of traffic on daily basis.
There’s pretty much no way to make it uncontrollerd while still keeping it safe.
