Dear all,
What about starting a new discussion regarding Luxair and Findel Luxembourg airport here?!
With Easy Jet & Ryanair increasing their presence at LUX, Luxair must feel the heat of growing competition in its former "private garden". Also LH took over some of the routes (FRA & MUC), TK and TP are growing there...
How do you see the future of both LUX & LG?
What about brussels airlines starting some feeder flights there, just as KLM?
Cheers,
Vincent
P.S : btw, any experience reported on an LG flight here?

Indeed,
Destnations like Luxemburg, Dusseldorf, Saarbrucken,... even Eindhoven, Groningen would be important feeders for SN other destinations, medium & long haul.
ATR would be perfect fits for this distances.
Some more destinations in UK would be good feeders too. Look at KLM network.

Hm. SN always did fly feeder services from Luxembourg to Zaventem (and from Düsseldorf, too, in fact that was one of their oldest routes). Now why did they discontinue them?
Re: Luxair & Luxembourg airport
When you write SN, you mean Sabena. And now the new SN (Brussels Airlines) is having a much closer look at costs!jan_olieslagers wrote:Hm. To reach 10 mio PAX in a few years time, you need the extra 50.000's from here and there, who connect to other destinations, which makes it again 50.000's.
You can put 25.000 or 70.000 also.
Good to see that Nantes, Bremen, Nuremberg etc are connected again.
The closeby important business cities will only bring transfer PAX , but that means money too.
Again, if KLM can do it,...

It's quite an achievement indeed ... given the size of GDL.
Granted, their catchment area also includes the cities of Metz, Nancy and Saarbrucken (the latter where they fly to btw) ..
..
At the time sn-brussels airlines was a small carrier focused to West-Africa only, it was not making sense to serve dus or lux. Today and hopefully tomorrow, it probably does.

Ryanair will open its 5th destination from LUX in the summer 2017 schedule: Lisbon (after London Stansted, Madrid, Porto and Bergamo).

Re: Luxair & Luxembourg airport
... that means that Luxair will face 2 LCCs (Easy Jet & Ryanair) on the LUX - LIS route but also the legacy TAP Air Portugal!sn26567 wrote:Ryanair will open its 5th destination from LUX in the summer 2017 schedule: Lisbon (after London Stansted, Madrid, Porto and Bergamo).
The LUX - LIS route is important regarding the important portuguese community living in Luxembourg... but 4 airlines on that one...
Ryanair is making a very significant investment in LUX on its first year of operations here... I am asking to myself how Luxair will face it!?

What has Guadalajara to do with this? Or what else do you mean by GDL? My trusted helper https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... 6s8k61sg9c found nothing more related... ???sn-remember wrote:It's quite an achievement indeed ... given the size of GDL.
Re: Luxair & Luxembourg airport
GDL = Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. AKA: the country, not the city or the airport.

Hm. Why alway talk in acronyms or abbreaviations? If it is worth stating, state it in full!
Then again, if one really wants to do such, it should be done properly: GdL might have been sufficiently clear.
