A hospital spokesperson says 25 people suffered from smoke inhalation on board of flight BA286 from San Francisco to London Heathrow. A medical emergency was declared on Flight BA286 from San Francisco, forcing the double-decker Airbus A380 to make an emergency landing at Vancouver International Airport. BA said cabin crew members were taken to hospitals "as a precaution" before being discharged. In a statement, the airline said: "We are sorry for the delay to our customers' flight but the safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always our top priority." Vancouver has arranged hotel accommodation for the customers and will book them on alternative flights as soon as possible.

OO-TCH landed there, after two holding circles. A TUI NL (ex Arkefly) 737 didn't: 173 passengers are still blocked at Fuerteventura, with weather at Lanzarote apparently that bad that a new attempt today failed. http://www.travmagazine.nl/tui-vlucht-g ... teventura/

That happened to me as well two years ago with Jetairfly: two attempts to land at ACE, and than diversion to FUE. Jetair found a nice hotel and we continued our trip with the same plane to the final destination next morning.
RIP passenger Martyn Foulds (U.K., 55). He died on a flight from Los Angeles to London Gatwick that diverted to Goose Bay. But the divertion was too late for hospital treatment: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -1-8219291
Indeed, tough day for the boys&girls up front, Wizz Skoje -> Eindhoven diverted to Cologne, and the subsequent re positioning flight Cologne->Eindhoven also failed to land at EIN and returned to Skopje (without pax??)
Apart from the Air Canada 767-300 from Toronto to Brussels that diverted to Frankfurt because of the dense fog over Brussels (mentioned in the "Abnormalities" thread), another Air Canada long-haul flight diverted today: AC85 (Boeing 787-8 reg. C-GHPT) from Tel Aviv to Toronto diverted to Vienna, apparently a medical diversion.
A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-300, registration N174DN performing flight DL107 from Charles de Gaulle (France) to Salt Lake City, UT (USA), was enroute at FL320 about 25nm southeast of London Heathrow, EN (UK) when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit obviously originating from the air conditioning system and decided to divert to London's Heathrow Airport.
Qatar Airways is decidedly not very lucky these days: QR713 (Boeing 777-200LR reg. A7-BBA), Doha-Houston, is diverting to Chicago due to a medical emergency.
And then, the passengers stranded on the Azores after yesterday's turbulences are finally on their way to Doha since one hour...
