A very worrying sentence in the statement on the main page of this site:
"Later, Lufthansa has the firm intention to integrate Brussels Airlines into the Eurowings platform."
So, goodbye Brussels Airlines, may you rest in peace... #RIPBrusselsAirlines

Guess (eventually) we can say goodbye to our Star Alliance benefits if SN becomes EW...
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Pretty much what "the doomsayers" according to some have been predicting for a while now. It was unavoidable really :/sn26567 wrote:Some preliminary information here:

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
The only sliver of hope is that Eurowings fails and Carsten Spohr gets to pack his bags and leave LH...
But that's not really nice towards the people working at EW...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
If that's correct, it's the opposite of what the doomsayers have repeated here three times a day. There will be no integration of Brussels Airlines into EuroWings, the Africa-flights will not move from Brussels to Germany, and the company "nv/sa Brussels Airlines" will (probably) remain to exist. Only nv/sa SN Airlholding will (probably) be integrated into Lufthansa.sn26567 wrote:Some preliminary information here:

Yes, what is that? Is it a statement from Brussels Airlines or from Lufthansa?Bralo20 wrote:Wait? And what's this?"Later, Lufthansa has the firm intention to integrate Brussels Airlines into the Eurowings platform."
Or it is one of the many thaughts, posted here, about what could happen?

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Both sides give themselves one year to discuss how SN can best be integrated into EW, and during that period, decisions of the board must be taken unanimously, so count on the Belgian directors to oppose any German move that could go too far!
My bet is for a "soft" integration (cf. soft brexit): Brusselswings with Intercontinental flights and European feeder flights, and perhaps some Eurowings flights to tourist destinations.

I fully agree with that - it's what I've heared also.sn26567 wrote:My bet is for a "soft" integration (cf. soft brexit): Brusselswings with Intercontinental flights and European feeder flights, and perhaps some Eurowings flights to tourist destinations.
And regarding the EuroWings flights at BRU: it will depend on the competition on the route and the profile of the passengers on that route. Example: more EuroWings flights to the Spanish costa's.
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
I don't see the long haul flights changing to Brusselswings ...
In Africa it will stay Brussels Airlines.
But time will tell.

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
And do you expect BWings to remain a full star alliance member ?sn26567 wrote:My bet is for a "soft" integration (cf. soft brexit): Brusselswings with Intercontinental flights and European feeder flights, and perhaps some Eurowings flights to tourist destinations.
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Yes. Already now, both Eurowings and Germanwings offer some of the Star Alliance benefits: Miles&More frequent flyer rewards, through bookings and baggage transfers, etc.: that's a step in the right direction. In Skyteam, Delta codeshares with low-cost Transavia. So I am not worried about SN leaving the Star Alliance.sn-remember wrote:And do you expect BWings to remain a full star alliance member ?sn26567 wrote:My bet is for a "soft" integration (cf. soft brexit): Brusselswings with Intercontinental flights and European feeder flights, and perhaps some Eurowings flights to tourist destinations.

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Code sharing on some routes with some carriers is one thing... Being a full alliance member is another thing.
It's like being inside the EU vs outside , UK having to negociate parallel deals without much bargaining power.

Eurobonus is big in northern Europe, and much more generous than LHs system
Not in *A is not in Eurobonus is probably no trips booked for me
