Veli Yüksel (CD&V) now condemning the strike, even though he earlier said on Twitter to "understand the concerns of ATC staff, although the timing of their action is somewhat unfortunate". He didn't take long to change his tune.

A friend of mine is currently one of the few working at Belgocontrol... He is not happy with this strike, so, do blame all Belgocontrol employees but well some/all unions which really deserve more than shame.

I'm not out to pillory someone at all, just pointing out who is responsible for these sickening actions. She is the chairwoman, so it's her own choice to be a public figure and to be seen as main figure of the GBATC. Therefore it's fair game to point out who she is.

Pointing out is one thing, but the tone of your post and the mentioning of someones personal facebook page has very little or no news value and smells of pillory....

This is indeed low. It's not up to you, Jetter, to openly share someones personal page. I wonder what the gain is of such action...?

On topic, I wonder why some people think they can still evade a higher pension age. Yes, I understand ATC might be a difficult job but they are evenly payed for it, no...?

It has little news value but it does make it possible for people working at BRU who might lose their job because of her actions to make that known to her in a polite way. Being chairwoman doesn't only involve the likable parts of representing your union.

What do you want them to do? Calling in sick is not exactly illegal... You would fire them for it? Good luck with the law suits coming up...

On the longer term the only solution might be to close Belgocontrol and replace it by military ATC. But I don't know if it's even possible legally...

I'm only saying I find it wrong for someone to openly publish the facebookpage of someone else... If person x or y looks her up via facebook and says whatever he or she wants, it's up to them. But it's not up to Jetter or anyone else to spread her page. Just my two cents...

And I didn't ask her guild to call on people to fake illness. Being a public figure by your own choice does have a bearing on your expectation of privacy. Besides that she isn't only a public figure by her own choice, but she chose to have a public Facebook as well. If you choose to have a public profile you can't claim an expectation of privacy regarding said profile anyway.

No, let us remain serious please: this is a strike. Reason, as explained by a delegate of one of the two unions on VRT (19h00 news): we want additional compensation in exchange for the pension age. We were negociating additional days off and other compensation, but negociations failed...

I fully agree, but right now some people should be in a room negotiating throughout the night. Anything less is not acceptable.
