You clearly don't read me correctly, or alternatively I misexplained my point: I am not saying they should just give a discount to airline A and not (or much less) to airline B. What I am saying is the opposite even: the increased security measures at BRU will likely lead to increased fees for ALL if this situation remains for a protracted period of time! I don't like it either, but its common sense someone will have to pay the bill.

If BRU is to help stimulate its business, unlike your proposal to linear give an identical discount to everybody serving the airport, there are far better ways to do so, all without creating a budgetary deficit.
What you're suggesting will only help to kill SN quicker.

It is not like FR and other LCCs would be the only beneficiaries of any discounts on airport passenger charges. SN, just like other airlines, depends on attracting these passengers to run an overall profitable operation.

If BRU increases charges too much, Belgian passengers have other reasonable alternatives...

KLM resumes second flight to and from Brussels Airport from April 11, 2016

KLM since April 6 has resumed the first flight (KL1721/1722). KLM starts Monday, April 11 with the second flight (KL1725/1726) to and from Brussels Airport.

The flight schedule for the period April 11 to May 1 at local time as follows:

Amsterdam 6:50 - 7:35 Brussels
Amsterdam 12.35 - 13.25 Brussels
Brussels 8:10 - 9:00 Amsterdam
Brussels 14:00 - 14:55 Amsterdam

The intention is to add more frequencies as soon as possible. KLM will inform customers about their booking(s) and about security measures.

Well, it does start to become a problem
A delegation from Tallinn yesterday arrived at BRU, and had to wait more than an hour for their pick up to get through the checks. That is not acceptable. We can discuss about the need of these checks (or not), but if it is delaying operations this much, there should be more manpower

The result is now that they rebooked via CDG to come back
This is a small loss so far, but it might get problematic if this continues

Passenger drop-off area at Brussels Airport in front of departures hall is and remains not accessible. But some changes now: drop-off only in car park P1, pick-up in car park P2. Free parking for 10 minutes in both P1 and P2.

The majority of Ryanair’s Brussels Zaventem flights have resumed operations, with the following exception:

Dublin – Brussels Zaventem

All flights on the Dublin routes will continue to operate to/from Brussels Charleroi up to an including Tuesday, 19th April.

First Delta flight since March 22 blasts arrived at Brussels Airport this morning. And the pilot waved a Belgian flag. Nice gesture!

As from tomorrow, some trains will go through the Diabolo tunnels again, but without stopping at the Brussels Airport train station.

The reopening of the train station is subject to the authorisation given by FedPol and airport authorities with regard to the safety of the station itself and the passage to the airport.

New Brussels Airport advisory published this afternoon: For both Schengen and non-Schengen flights, passengers are advised to arrive at Brussels Airport 3 hours ahead of their departure time.

Really? :?

Yep. That's the official advise. Seems there is nobody within Brussels Airport who realizes that "3 hours" really frightens off passengers.

they act like BRU was on an island with no other options around.
I don't even know why the airlines accept it.
My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.

This is probably linked to the paranoid security... But, in my case adding 3 hours to my 1 hour driving to BRU, does not compare good with 1-hour drive to DUS or 2-hour ICE train to FRA.

So, disappointing to see that BAC made miracles to restart flights and the security theatre blocking all of this.

Sigh...

The queue to get to the airport was at least 1 hour today, then I dont know how much more to get into the building cause the queue was quite long as well. The advisory was released again, cause some pax missed their flight.

Does somebody knows why they only open 3 glass doors out of 14 or so in the connector? This means only 6 belts to put all the hand luggage through the scanners... The que of waiting people was up till the stairs when you come up the connector now.

Not that I ever saw more of them to be open before 22/03 but now the passengers for the B-Terminal pass through it too so doesn't make sense. This could shorten up the waiting lines progressively.

Hi,

Adding a traffic que for 1h would mean AMS is the better quicker option for most of us !
Hate to see this happen... but I also rebooked my flight to AMS instead of BRU...
LOT .... returnflight sundayevening was changed to tuesdayevening WTF ? ?
All others flight full and a two day stopover in WAW ?
So BRU will bleed to AMS if there aren't better solutions than given for now...
They did a great job but it has to be better...much better.. then this..

Very much so, especially if you count in that AMS already has more destinations and higher frequencies to start with. The waiting times at BRU have to become acceptable ASAP, even more important than increasing capacity imo. With such waiting times they won't need much capacity sadly :(

I fully agree.
CDG for those of us living in Brussels, and AMS if living in Antwerp and north.
DUS if u live to the east. Until BRU and those running the show come to their
Senses. I hope for SN that things will get back to normal ASAP.
