Did they offer you an alternative?
I'm connecting to Malta in Frankfurt. They tried to look for flights out of Dusseldorf, Köln or Paris but had no more availability. Best they could do was a flight out of dusseldorf on Monday.

I cancelled the Brussels-frankfurt portion of the trip and will be driving to Frankfurt.

Two other pictures from tuesday evening. Weird/rare sight with the Bru air heavies. Even more rarely was 'the sound of silence' at Brucargo..

The ANA aircraft which needed to divert to Düsseldorf on Tuesday, will fly back to Tokyo Narita on Thursday evening, departing DUS at 18h local. ANA will operate it as a passenger flight, but tickets were not for sale through regular channels. Instead ANA have been offering the seats to passengers disrupted by their BRU cancellations.

Well then, I seem to be stuck here in Brazil (I must admit that there are worse places).
My scheduled return flight is only next Saturday, 2nd April (TAP Portugal), but when I look at the huge damage it is well clear that it is something that is not going to be repaired in a couple of days. I can only wait, try to enjoy my remaining holiday (I do, earned it and will not let it be spoiled by those pigs from ISIS) and see whatever happens. Hopefully I won't get dropped somewhere in Orly or Schiphol.

My condolences to all the people involved and their relatives.
I worked for many great years at BRU, even when the place gets repaired it will never be the same again.

Probably way to late, but an idea I had to think of yesterday evening:

I once had an FR flight from TSF to CRL that couldn't land in TSF because of the fog. The plane eventually landed in VCE. We boarded a bus on the tarmac that was then sealed and driven to the tarmac in VCE to board the FR flight there.

If the piers and the connector are undamaged, couldn't SN organize check-in for pax with bags in the regional airports and then bus all pax to the connector? That way the hub could still stand. and for the pax without bags, a shuttle from the C parking at the Heysel also to the connector.

Cheers,

Stij

That seems like an excellent idea, much better than my hangar idea.
That way connections can be maintained as well.
If the terminal is given back to BAC by the police, and provided there is no major structural damage (at first sight it doesn't seem so, apparently), BAC thinks it can quick fix and reopen part of it within 24 hours.
If so, SN will be the first to move back (some of) their operations, probably the long hauls.
Others will have to wait longer. Getting back BRU to a fully operational level might take several weeks.
Good to know.

That wouldn't make sense? Now the long hauls are diverted to FRA because there are a lot of connecting passengers. If there are only SN-flights at BRU, connecting would be worse than it is now?

Seems SN will have a lot less flights than the 64 they had planned today no ?

I had just the same experience with Treviso and Venice a few years ago. Could be a solution indeed, knowing that only the departure hall is out of service. Btw, does anybody know if there are some damages at the bagage handling installations on level 0 ? Blast trough the bagage belts from check in ?

Warm congratulations to all people working at the Airport. You're making a great job those days despite the chaos at the airport and the emotional aftermath of the tuesday events !

Looking at the schedule https://www.brusselsairlines.com/en-be/ ... 24mar.aspx the first flight is supposed to leave around 11am, so it's too early ;)

And as far as I remember 66 was for friday, it was around 40 today.

Any slim chance that a departure scheduled for Saturday out of BRU will be possible?
