Brussels Airport release 27/3:

In the past few days, Brussels Airport has made an extensive analysis of the terminal infrastructure and of the various possible scenarios for a partial recommencement of its activities. When this partial restart will take place is not yet decided. That depends on the various processes that have to be restarted. The simple fact is that a restart in the short term is not possible in the devastated infrastructure.

They should be very proud of themselves at SN, and what they have achieved. I hope that sometime in the future the details starting March 22 8 am till SN returns to BRU will be documented one way or another, maybe in a book. Shedding the light on the colossal efforts of all at SN to keep the airline flying, against all odds.

Avnu wrote:Does anyone know what happened with SN1614, supposed to be the return flight from Bilbao to Antwerp? Looking at the Antwerp Airport website and FR24, it seems it's been cancelled. The outbound however (SN1613) WAS flown, so it looks like OO-DWB will (be forced to) nightstop in Bilbao.
Probably gone tech in BIO... This morning OO-DWH as SN9913 did BRU BIO, and just landed in ANR from BIO as SN1614.
And OO-DWB is now on it's way back from BIO as SN9914 to ??(probably BRU), but only at FL240 as cruising level, so surely some tech issue (cabin pressure?).

As to be expected with the weather forecasts at ANR, the first diversion this morning to EIN for OO-DWI SN1156 from ZRH. After several holdings, made one attempt before diverting to EIN. At almost the same time, the other flight from ZRH came straight in without further delay.
Other arrivals/departures seem to go more or less as planned for the moment.

Air Europa still flying to Liege on the 29th (only UX1171 & UX1172) and all flights on the 30th.

Turkish Airlines' Brussels flights have been cancelled between 28 March - 1 April (included). (IMHO, they cancel because it's much easier to handle cancellations then repositioning)

Adria Airways redirects its flights to/from Ljubljana and Tirana to Maastricht (MST) on 28-29 March. I guess they are the only one to use that airport... They reimburse cost of public transportation between Maastricht and Brussels.

Air Malta continues using Dusseldorf as their replacement airport until 29 March. They provide coaches to/from the Maltese embassy in Brussels.

Aer Lingus cancels Brussels flights until 31 March included (that leaves a monopoly to Ryanair!).

All Finnair 29 March flights cancelled, as well as BRU-HEL AY816 on 30.3.

Emirates flights cancelled until April 1st included.

A lot of repositioning still going on the past hour or so: JAF794 ANR->BRU / SN9911 (OO-DWB) BRU-ANR and now SN9912 (OO-DWA) ANR-BRU. Positioning for maintenance @BRU maybe??

Maybe it was mentioned already somewhere ,but what is happening to the FREIGHT normally shipped from BRU aboard PAX planes?
Are any SN (or JAF,HQ) flights from LGG,OST or even ANR ,FRA,ZRH taking on board any cargo or mail?
As the schedules are published a few days in advance, and both LGG and OST are used to handle freight in significant quantities,it should be possible for SN or JAF to accept some small parcel freight to generate extra revenue.Or is there an embargo on the freight ops in order not to jeopardize the turnaround times and PAX ops?

Does anybody know what the load factors out of Frankfurt are. How full are the flights? Is it working out okay for SN?

I don't have the asnwer, but i can just tell you that in East Africa , only 2 flights were operated since 22 March. One from Frankfurt on Friday and tomorrow from Zurich. Brussels Airlines didn't operate its 1 weekly service to Bujumbura, yesterday.

On Wednesday 23, a flight left BRU empty to bring back passengers stranded in East Africa

Brussels Airlines seems to focus on West & Central Africa, i don't know why, probably because SN network in theses regions is bigger than in East Africa

it also seems that all Iberia flights are not more diverted to LGG... Probably because of low load factor or huge delay?
