Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2016

Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2015
Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2016

As there are still no topic about it, I open it.

I was just wondering how will look the fleet this summer because it seems that for the moment there are only 3 A320, OO-TCW, OO-TCT and OO-TCW. The OO-TCX has been ferried to TLL, will it come back?

The end of Thomas Cook Airlines look closer and closer if in my opinion.

Unlike in 2015, there was no topic yet as there was nothing to report. I've never seen TCAB so quiet.

I don't think it is the end of ot, because they still have a major agreement with SN, but SN is not going to operate all their flights either. Wait for the summer season to see some activity!

No it's definitely not the end of Thomas Cook indeed, at least the tour operator. But Thomas Cook Airlines is something else, I feel like the tour operator want get rid of it and to make everything operated by other operator. There will be a moment where the Thomas Cook airlines operation will be fully integrated in SN. Some years ago there where 7 A320. It was impossible for SN to take everything at once, but now with only 3, it become clear.

Just have look to the last ne destination, Heraklion, Rhodos, Jerez de La Frontera etc

What about the FQ cabin crew and pilots? Will they fly for SN?

Many of them are seasonal, the fixed, simply doesn't fly that much in winter. Some of them move to Brussels Airlines, but they go the normal way by applying etc... and not everybody is taken. There is no "transfer of crew".

Hmmm... what's your source? I count 5 a/c -> OOTCH, OOTCT, OOTCV, OOTCW & OOTCX. The TCX has recently received the new livery.

Indeed there is OO-TCV as well, flying from MUC that I forgot but regarding flight radar, OO-TCX has been ferried to TLL, it doesn't mean that it left the fleet but it might be the case. if an insider can give us some more info, it's welcome.

OOTCV is flying from HAJ at the moment and OOTCX will be back in 1 or 2 weeks. Also note that the 3 to 4 Brussels Airlines a/c flying for Thomas Cook Airlines in summer are flying under HQ-callsign. It makes no sense to have 9 a/c in your own fleet if you only need 4 a/c during the long winter season.

OO-SNC is doing just that at this moment (even though this is not summer yet :) ), flying back from Lanzarote as HQ 1527.

Flights will start on 11 June 2016. ;)

I was thinking exactly the same: in the summer, they don't have enough planes and they have to wet-lease aircraft from Brussels Airlines, but they find the way to operate flights from AMS for sister company Neckermann!

There are 2 things they can do ... or they can take on an additional aircraft (which I don't see happening if I have to be honest) or what is most likely is that they let SN operate additional HQ flights and use the A/C that's free for the AMS ops.

I have indeed heard the story of a merger of Thomas Cook Airlines with Eurowings. And it would make sense: in the past, Thomas Cook's German subsidiary was a joint venture between Lufthansa and Thomas Cook, which the latter took over completely. And in Belgium, Thomas Cook has many flights operated by Lufthansa's affiliate Brussels Airlines.

These two are made to be in bed together!

If the plan is indeed to sell the aircraft to other airlines, I guess the 5 A320 of HQ will go to SN, what a shame they don't have any A321, It would have been a good opportunity to intrude it into the Brussels Airlines fleet.

If LH would indeed take over HQ I don't see why they would sell those 320`s to SN if they really want to have EW @ Brussels they could integrate HQ into EW and leave SN operating as it is next to that EW branch.
