Eurowings Europe (Austria) will hire 600 crew members as its fleet expands to 19 A320s by end of 2017. The airline will have its AOC in Austria with initially two A320s based in Vienna. Other bases in Europe are under evaluation.
ch-aviation writes:
Eurowings Europe (Vienna) is on track to make its commercial debut this March, the Austrian Aviation Net news portal has reported.
In terms of operations, the start-up, which recently revised its trading name from EWAT GmbH to Eurowings Europe GmbH, is looking to operate a fleet of seven A320 Family aircraft by the end of this year. Over the course of 2017, it will add a plane a month which should bring its fleet to an overall total of nineteen come January 2018.
As part of the Lufthansa Group's ambitious Eurowings LCC programme, Eurowings Europe will, as its name suggests, focus on developing a regional European network out of its Vienna hub initially. It is currently completing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with the Austrian authorities and is also in the process of finalizing staffing requirements. It plans to operate from two to three bases by the end of the year.

For training purpose, or for high demand on domestic routes?
Re: "Eurowings Europe" on track to start in March 2016
maybe because they have a spare A330 as they use other airliners to operate their long haul flights at the moment
or just a feeder for CGN

Sounds a bit like what Vueling is to Iberia.
Re: "Eurowings Europe" on track to start in March 2016
Eurowings Europe was awarded its AOC by regulators, allowing it to begin commercial flights. From Vienna, if everything goes like previously scheduled.

What's the impact of this on their long haul operations? Will it be à la Norwegian: DY/Europe and DU/Intercontinental or a different approach?sn26567 wrote:Eurowings Europe was awarded its AOC by regulators, allowing it to begin commercial flights. Karl Urlich Garnadt, member of the executive board of Lufthansa, has stated that Ryanair is the benchmark fir eurowings in terms of cost.
That very clearly sets out the business strategy that SN employees may expect when LH takes over. Work more, be more flexible, work longer, earn less.

Carsten Spohr has big ambitions for Eurowings. Besides his appetite for Brussels Airlines, SAS and Thomas Cook, he is now in discussions with air berlin and its main shareholder Etihad. Eurowings could integrate some aircraft, crew and routes from the German carrier which has serious financial problems.

It is quite clear that Eurowings is nothing more than a cost cutting exercise.luchtzak wrote:How is your comment related to the topic?SLM wrote:Maybe you can earn more at mcdonalds? Pffff.
Contracts at EW are amongst the worst on offer in Europe, probably SLM knows this.
