So this is official now.

Still waiting for the official pressrelease from EGIS.
Anyway this is good news as Tatneft knows nobody will buy their fuel if they are more expensive than other airports.

Might see the return of transitflights back to the time when Merlin airtrade was operating.
Loads of transitflights fueling up the liquid gold ;)

Surprising that they got such an increase in the number of passengers with a decrease in the number of movements. Any explanation?

Perhaps they requested other operators to reduce or relocate their activities?
Was there a similar phenomenon at Antwerp?

Maybe it is because of the long haul ops by JAF?

Decrease in movements is because of less local trainingflights due to WIP and restrictions

Some more news on the new fuel supplier TAFTNEFT.

TNA services NV will be the new name of the company.
The staff of Skytanking have been taken over.
They have had a dreamstart at OST airport with the past weeks.

Tatneft management have had a talk with port management to get the fuel supply delivered by ship from Russia.
Now have heard this story before with MK airlines but it never materilised so wouldn't trust this info too much.

One thing is good for the airport, the fuel price has been lowered since 18 March.

CEO of TUI group,Fritz Joussen came to OST to personally thank the Jetair +JAF staff and Ostend airport staff for
all the efforts done to accomodate 580 extra flights and 84700 extra passengers since 22/3.
In the meantime some 75% of the JAF flights have returned to BRU,but it seems more extra traffic will be routed through OST(and other regional aiports) than originally foreseen for the 'Summer 2016' program.

Last Rome flight from OST this year will be on 27/10.
JAF/TUI has decided to scrap the route for the winter.
Its not sure that the route will return in the summer of 2017.

Barcelona is doing much better and will continue throughout the winter.

Do you know if they will replace the Rome flights and fly to somewhere else instead? I'm still hoping that Jetairfly or some other airline will start flying between Scotland and Ostend.

I'd love to see a Scottish connection, but I'd hate to lose Rome. :(

If they are not able to make Rome successful, how could they make any Scottish route fly? Even from BRU...

Beautiful dreams, but please come back to earth!

I wonder why Jetair doesn't sell package holidays to Rome, but Jetairfly sells flights to Rome... I went to Rome last year (from BRU, flights from OST and ANR hadn't started yet), but I ended up booking with Connections (and flying Alitalia). Connections seemed to have many more options, and cheaper ones at that.

sn26567 Maybe if an airline was able to offer connections at either Ostend or a Scottish airport instead of just a point to point service the route might be more successful. Low cost airlines are very slowly moving away from only point to point flights. Easyjet has been in talks with various airlines in the UK regarding offering a feeder service for medium and long haul routes and Ryanair has, I believe signed an agreement wih Norwegian and will also for a trial period offer connecting flights on some of its own routes .
I would like to add that Ryanair are going to recommence flights from the west coast of Scotland to Charleroi in October although it will only be twice weekly and from Glasgow International as opposed to daily from Glasgow Prestwick until a few years ago. This will make my journey to and from Ostend much easier and far less stressful and tiring than having to fly via Heathrow and from Zaventem to Ostend via an unreliable train service.

A flight from glasgow to ostend?? I have my doubts. I guess in setting up a connection between two cities there has to be a mutual interest otherwise it doesn't make sense to connect eachother. Yes from ostend there might be an interest to fly to glasgow, but the other way around??? What does ostend have to offer?
