Today a flight to LCY was flown by Cityjet themselves and not VLM's fokker 50.
So the airport received Cityjet's Avro RJ85 today. :)

Appearantly the flight was due to crew shortage with VLM so Cityjet had to intervene and operate the flight themselves. :(

Avro is OO-DWB. Flight numbers: SN1 - SN2 - SN3 - SN4.

Jetairfly's OO-JEM (Embraer) is also joining the party.

It was indeed a dream event for 1.200 children with a disability.

Nice report from VTM tv:

http://nieuws.vtm.be/binnenland/191253- ... n-en-terug

Online article, translated through Google Translate:

1,200 children with disabilities have today flown for the first time: they got their maiden trip at Antwerp Airport. Some airlines had specifically arranged a plane for them, because it is often not easy for children with disabilities to fly. It was a day to remember. For most of the children it was a real maiden flight, as it was the first time they flew. Quite exciting so. When VTM journalist Evelyne Boone asked passenger Bjorn Van Den Bossche how far they will fly, he replied enthusiastically: "To the sun!". But the flight is not only special for the children, but also the staff enjoyed it. They came there specifically for work. "This is indescribable really. This is actually to see how something that our daily business actually is, and then how many emotions that brings the children the most unique experience of my career so far today for me. But not only the children but also for us, "said Erica Raymaekers, cabin crew member. The 'special' flight flew over the city of Antwerp and the harbour to Sint-Niklaas and back to Antwerp.

Thank you very much Brussels Airlines, Jetairfly, VLM Airlines and Antwerpen Airport!

Meanwhile, there's a queer silence regarding the Antwerp-Genève service with its new operator. How are they doing? And can they find any custom for their Caen service?

I have taken ANR-GVA-ANR 12 segments so far, since they started in April..
twice we were 2 pax on the plane.. most other times average 8-10 and only a few times 12-14 pax
cheapest fare I have paid so far EUR 250 return and most expensive EUR 500 One way.
Flying them tomorrow and returning monday...
I really hope they will keep the flights out of ANR. Great alternative to SN and BRU.
as for CAEN, absolutely no idea.

It also remains silent about all the other new companies which were going to start operations... If you listen to EGIS or other airport executives, they were negotiating with 28 airlines, of which 10 showed high interest. Recently the names of Royal Air Maroc, LOT, Hop! were mentioned, and FlyBe was seriously considering coming back... Also the ExtraJet to/from Leeds & Copenhagen never took off.
Looks like a lot of 'air' in the announcements. In order to improve credibility, it might be better that they announce new carriers, once plans are very concrete...
Chalair load factors are not so great, again no advertising, high ticket prices, day return trips not possible on each day and too small plane (for non-regular travelers).
Luckily Jetairfly, Cityjet and bizjet traffic is doing well!

For Caen, I'd be happy if they continue the service but only if they are able to make affordable prices. As long as the price will be so high I will continue to fly HOP from Brussels via Lyon to Caen or with Brussels Airlines to London Haethrow and then Ryanair (yes Sean I do take Ryanair from times to time) from standsted to Deauville which is anyway my final destination.

But to be honest I would definitely prefer to fly from Brussels to Caen rather than from Antwerp because I live around BRU any anyway there is a bigger market from there than Antwerp

[[off topic]] What's your door-to-door time on a Brussels - Heathrow (sic!) - Stansted (sic!) - Deauville trip? Sounds like horrible travel scheme! You might be quicker hitching a ride on my 80 kts ultralight! Limited luggage allowance, though, even poorer than Ryanair :) But I am sure even Antwerp-Caen must work out quicker, unless you have very poor transportation from your home to ANR.

Still of topic: Deauville is just 4 hours by car... even if there was a non-stop flight out of Brussels, that's difficult to beat...

From the moment you don't wanna drive a car and prefer to go with public transportation, the plane to Caen is a fast and good opportunity.

Yes I totally agree with you, the ANR-CFR flight is excellent as it's very quick but the major problem is that it's way to expensive and the time table not convenient enough as it has a very low frequencies in comparaison with the multi flight of hop. But if a find a flight with the right price at the right moment, I would not hesitate to go for Chalair.

OO-JEB (Jetairfly Embraer) just did a ga-around at ANR runway 11. Wind change perhaps ? Aircraft landed a few minutes later on 29, thus a shorter taxiway to the apron.

How is Take Air doing nowadays?

A death bird? Or a successful one?

You don't hear anything about them.
